Margaret (Planey) Foglia; 86; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Tuesday; Oct. 20; 2009; at Kelly’s Personal Care Home; Greensburg. Born May 4; 1923; in Gillespie; she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Susanna (Blasko) Planey. A resident of Rostraver Township for the past 50 years; Mrs. Foglia was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was retired from the advertising department of Former Hills Department Store; Belle Vernon. She enjoyed watching the Steelers and Pirates; baking; playing bocce and cards. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels; was a member of the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly at Center on the Hill and was a social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Ronald and Sue Foglia; of Prescott; Ariz.; and Dennis and Dorothy Foglia; of The Colony; Texas; a daughter and son-in-law; Cheryl and Sam Derr; of Youngwood; six grandchildren; Carly and Brittany Foglia; Kristin and Matthew Foglia; Janine (Derr) Hays and husband; Chris; and Jeremy Derr; three great-grandchildren; Jacob and Madison Hays and Alexander Derr. She was preceded in death by her husband; Norman J. Foglia; who died July 14; 2003; a sister; Katherine Planey; and five brothers; John; Steve Lefty Planey Jr.; Joe; George and Mike Planey. Loretta M. Cupp Senich; 88; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Saturday; Feb. 13; 2010; at 6:37 a.m. at Jefferson Regional Health System. Born May 1; 1921; in Belle Vernon; she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Margaret Rennie Cupp. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; Mrs. Senich was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She was a retired coupon clerk from the former Wetterau in 1988. She was a member of the former Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Ladies Auxiliary; former St. Sebastian Legion of Mary; former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522; and AARP. Loretta was known for being an amazing seamstress; making cloths including wedding dresses for her daughter and nieces. She loved to read; cheer on her beloved Steelers; and was the family historian; recalling stories of the past in vivid detail to entertain others. John E. Taylor; 90; of Bear Rocks; formerly of Jeannette; passed away Sunday; Aug. 18; 2013; in Harmon House Care Center; Mt. Pleasant. John was born May 3; 1923; in Charleroi; a son of the late Bartrum J. and Inez Milby Taylor. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years; Cora Belle Springer Taylor; in 2002; his brother; Byron Bill Taylor; in 2007; and a sister; Ruth Hubans; in 2010. John graduated from Charleroi High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Army in 1943. After attending Aero Industries Technical Institute in Glendale; Calif.; he served in the 8th and 9th Air Force during World War II in England; France; Germany and Belgium. As an airplane mechanic at the Burtonwood Air Depot near Warrington; England; he received a commendation from Brigadier General Isaac W. Ott as he and his fellow technicians set an all-time record in 1944 for overhauling and returning to service 2;277 aircraft engines in one month in preparation for the D-Day Invasion. Prior to his retirement; John owned and operated Taylor Auto Service; which was located in Jeannette from 1946 to 1949. Later in 1949; he; along with his father and brother; built and operated Taylor Auto Parts on Lowry Avenue in Jeannette; where Carquest Auto Parts now stands. Taylor Auto Service re-opened in Greensburg in 1950 and was in operation until John retired in 1985. John enjoyed serving his many loyal customers over the years and appreciated his excellent employees; some of whom were with him his entire time in business. John’s love for his family will be sadly missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his daughter; Judy Wilson (Robert); of Greensburg; his son; Robert Taylor (Margaret); of Bear Rocks; grandchildren; Jeffrey Wilson (Linda); John Wilson (Therese Simpson); Shari McHenry (John II); Chris Ann Boyce (David); Erin Hresko (Patrick) and Megan Taylor (Justin Heiser); great-grandchildren; Haley and Amy Wilson; John III and Corey McHenry; Parker and Colson Boyce; Gillian; Claire and Asher Hresko; sister; Jean Wood (Thomas); of Rockville; Md.; sister-in-law; Lois Davis; of Birmingham; Ala.; Aunt Mary Yapchanyk; of Belle Vernon; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion pet; Tammy Cat.
