Betty Polinchak; 101; formerly of North Charleroi; passed into the arms of our Lord on Dec. 27; 2010. She devoted her life to her family. Betty was born in Export on July 4; 1909; a daughter of the late John Tomalski and Anna Janik Tomalski. Mrs. Polinchak moved to Texas in 1980 to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed many activities and made many friends while in Texas. Many years earlier; she was a Girl Scout leader. She also worked in the children’s department of Miller’s Fashion Apparel. She belonged to the Women’s Club of Washington County. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; John Polinchak; who died in 1987. They had been married for 53 years at that time. Betty was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter; Betty Zubko and husband; John; two grandchildren; Cynthia Zubko-Steward and husband; Steven; and Christopher Zubko and wife; Kristen; three great-grandsons; Brandon; Tyler; and Ryan Zubko; two sisters; Mary Vargo; of Fayette City; and Catherine Satoran; of Westlake; Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be conducted at the Belle Vernon Cemetery at a future date.

Anthony P. Semancik Sr.; 81; of South Orange; N.J.; formerly of Fayette City; died Wednesday; Feb. 18; 2009; in Runnells Specialized Hospital; Berkley Heights; N.J. Born Feb. 17; 1928; in Washington Township; he was the son of the late Michael P. and Elizabeth (Gurbal) Semancik. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon; having previously been a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City before its closing. Mr. Semancik was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant; where he was employed for 49 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Fayette City American Legion Post No. 484. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Anthony P. Jr. and Charlene Semancik; of South Orange; two brothers; Steve and Joseph Semancik; of Belle Vernon; and one daughter and son-in-law; Julia and Oscar Kluh; of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife; Ann M. (Sobek) Semancik; on Dec. 2; 2002; five brothers; Albert; Andrew; Michael; Frank Sr. and John Semancik; and one sister; Mary Miller.
