Hazel M. Staup Costella; 91; of North Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Oct. 29; 2013; at 5:50 a.m. at New Dawn Personal Care Home; Charleroi. Born June 28; 1922; in Roscoe; she was the daughter of the late Russell N. Staup Sr. and Dorothy Kirby Staup. Mrs. Costella was a resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 65 years; member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and the former church ladies guild and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Belle Vernon Court 1522. Hazel also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul; Monessen; and packed meals for the Meals on Wheels program. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law; Thomas J. Costella Jr. and wife; Eileen; of Belle Vernon; two daughters and son-in-law; Pamela Brightwell of Belle Vernon; Patricia L. and James Pascoe of Carnegie; six grandchildren; Mark Brightwell; Jennifer Nelson; James Pascoe; Jason Pascoe; Nicole Kolar; Nathan Costella; four great-grandchildren; Kassidy Brightwell; Colton Brightwell; Poppy Pascoe; Blaise Pascoe; a sister and brother-in-law; Lois and Robert Zanardelli of Belle Vernon; and sister-in-law; Jessie June Staup of Roscoe. She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas J. Costella Sr.; a sister; Dorothy Gialames; brother; Russell Staup; and a son-in-law; Richard A. ‘Tony’ Brightwell. Alma V. Gereshenski DiGrino; 77; of Donora; went to be with the Lord Sunday; March 3; 2013. A daughter of the late Jack F. and Virginia Tonks Cullen; she was born in North Belle Vernon Feb. 15; 1936. Alma lived in Donora for over 20 years; she was formerly of Monongahela. She was a homemaker; loved her poodles; and was an avid bingo player. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law; Jack and Cheryl Gereshenski of Finleyville; James Gereshenski of Belle Vernon; three daughters and one son-in-law; Virginia Thompson of Charleroi; Gerry and George Johnson of Monongahela; Lois Fleming of Monongahela; one brother; George Cullen of Elizabeth; and many; many grandchildren. Betty Jane Yowonske; 76; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Wednesday; June 6; 2012; in Presbyterian Senior Care Center in Washington after a year-long battle with multiple health problems. Born in Redstone Township on May 31; 1936; she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Helen J. (Grabiak) Bost. Betty was the proud owner and operator of a small fishing bait-and-tackle shop on Route 51 in Rostraver. She loved baking pies; cooking; auctions and selling at flea markets. Most of all; Betty enjoyed her time with family and friends. She was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Betty was the beloved mother of Sandy Davis and Chuck Sanders of Roscoe and David Yowonske and wife; Kathy; of Kinston; N.C.
