Violet W. Zuro; 92; of Belle Vernon; passed away Wednesday; Feb. 26; 2014; in Westmoreland Manor. A daughter of the late John S. and Mary Frenchek Zapora; she was born in Herminie on July 13; 1921. Catholic by faith; she had resided in Belle Vernon for over 50 years and had been employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Charland Sportswear in Monessen. She loved to crochet; and had made many beautiful afghans for family and friends. Violet was a wonderful wife; mother; grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Janice and Gordon Yeaton of Belle Vernon; one son and two daughters-in-law; John and Karen Zuro of Reva; Va.; and Mila Zuro of Belle Vernon; three sisters; Sophie Panzo of McKeesport; Mildred Panyard of Melvindale; Mich.; and Bernice Ross of Dearborn Heights; Mich.; one brother; Carey Zapora of Benton Harbor; Mich.; five grandchildren; Vicki Yeaton Kutska and her husband; Randy; of Belle Vernon; Paul Zuro and his fiancee; Holly of Arnold City; Jennifer Zuro Jackson and her husband; Phil; of San Diego and Sandy and Kristen Zuro; both of Reva; Va.; and five great-grandchildren; Lyndsay and Nikolas Kutska; Katie and Chris Jackson and Ava Zuro. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; John Zuro in 1975; a son; Robert D. Zuro in 2009; a granddaughter; Sasha Zuro in 2008; a sister; Connie Zapora; and three brothers; Leon; Edward in World War II; and Martin Zapora. Gail Hopton;92;of Clearwater;died peacefully in Pinellas Park on April 14;2010. She was born April 7;1918;the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah O’Neill Hancock. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church. Survived by daughter;Linda Hopton of Pinellas Park;grandson;Michael Hopton of Ogden;UT;and granddaughter;Sarah Branam of Clearwater. Memorial services are planned for April 19th at 2 pm at Heritage United Methodist Church in Clearwater.

Jack Reed Dailey Sr.; 79; of Charlotte; N.C.; loving husband; father and grandfather; went to be with the Lord on Saturday; March 3; 2012. He passed peacefully in his home with his wife and children at his side. A son of the late James Wilbur Dailey and Mildred Speers Coatsworth; he was born in Webster on Aug. 9; 1932. He grew up on a small farm in Fellsburg and graduated from the former Fellsburg Grade School and Rostraver High School; where he met and married his one and only sweetheart; Marcella J. Waiton. He worked briefly for American Bridge before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and graduated at the top of his class in Naval Submarine School. He was awarded medals for National Service; Good Conduct and European Occupation. While in the service he and Marcella had their two children; Pamela and Jack Jr. After the Navy; he attended the University of Pittsburgh and received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering; graduating summa cum laude and continued on to receive a M.S.E.E. at Syracuse University. He joined the IBM Corp. in Endicott; N.Y.; where he worked as a senior engineer at the Glendale Laboratory pioneering advanced technology in integrated circuitry. During his 32-year career; he wrote and published over 30 inventive patents and technological publications and was a licensed professional engineer in both New York State and North Carolina. In 1991 he transferred with his wife to Charlotte; N.C. and then retired in 1993. Never one to rest on his laurels; he started a new career and founded his own business D&D Backflow Test and Certification; which he worked at with his son until shortly before his death. He will be remembered by all for his love of his family; his love of animals; his wonderful sense of humor and warm and friendly smile and as befitting an engineer; his ability to fix almost anything. Survivors include his wife of 62 years; Marcella J. Waiton Dailey; one daughter and son-in-law; Pamela J. and Dr. William K. Poston Jr.; of Charlotte; one son; Jack Reed Dailey Jr.; of Matthews; N.C.; two grandchildren; William K. Poston III; of Charlotte; and Amanda Blythe Poston; of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Shirley Vadella; of Belle Vernon; and Deborah and David Richard; of Parkland; Fla.; cousins; Carmen Schmitt; of Glenshaw; Pa.; Lois Moreland; of Fellsburg; and Susan Winchell; of Pittsburgh; and many loving nieces and nephews.
