Thomas C.Rankin of Belle Vernon R.D.1 died Saturday;Sept.26;1981;in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 79. Mr.Rankin was born June 14;1902 in Rostraver Twp.;a son of the late John C.and Annie Culbert Rankin. He was a retired employee of the former U.S.Steel Donora Works;and also farmed in Rostraver Twp. He was also a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon;and was a charter member of Rostraver Grange 919. Emil F.Rieu of 644 Third St.;Monessen;died at 10 a.m.Friday;July 24;1981;in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.;Carroll Township after an illness of two years. Mr.Rieu was 85. He was born in France on June 21;1896;and had resided on Third St.for the past 63 years. He was employed at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.for 55 years before retiring 10 years ago. Mr.Rieu was a member of St.Cajetan Roman Catholic Church and the Croatian Club;both of Monessen;and also was an original founder of the French Club in Monessen. He is survived by his widow;Henriette Cayral Rieu;two sons;Lt.Col.Emil H.Rieu of the U.S.Air Force in Bowie;Md.;and Eli O.Rieu of Monessen;seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr.Rogowitz was born June 1;1910;in Boston;Mass.;a son of the late Harry and Racheal Stone Rogowitz. A resident of Monessen most of his life;Mr.Rogowitz was retired from the Electrical Department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Rogowitz was a U.S.Army veteran having served in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 28;Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1190 and Mon Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers;all of Monessen. He was preceded in death by two sisters;Jeanette Chodes and Mae Newmark;and two brothers;Harry and Meyer Rogowitz. Survivors include his widow;Mary Rizzutto Rogowitz;a son;Harry M.Rogowitz of Kansas City;Kansas;one brother;Ben Rogowitz of Halandale;Fla.and a number of nieces and nephews.
