Orthelia Mae Rankin of the Belle Vernon Apartments;died Tuesday;Dec.30;1980;at 1:20 p.m. in the Monongahela Valley Hospital;Carroll Twp. She was 77. Mrs.Rankin was born Dec.23;1903;in Fayette City;a daughter of the late James and Annie Shoack Anderson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon and had lived in Belle Vernon the last 20 years. She previously lived in Cleveland;Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband;Earl Rankin;in 1961. Mrs.Rankin is survived by two brothers;Howard Anderson of Wadsworth;Ohio;and Charles Anderson of McKeesport;and two sisters;Lillian Sisley of Toronto;Ohio;and Florence White of Belle Vernon. John Henry Rutledge of 408 Reed Ave.; Monessen; was pronounced dead on arrival at Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township at 9:36 a.m. Saturday;Nov.1;1980. He was 65.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Birmingham; Ala.;on Aug 31;1915;a son of the late John Rutledge and Rose Anderson Wilson.
He retired in July of 1980 from the Blast Furnace at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
He was a member of Joseph H.Ford Post 691 of The American Legion in Monessen.
Survivors include his widow;Martha; one sister;Mrs.Velma Lee of Chicago; Ill.and a host of aunts;cousins;nieces and nephews.

As a member of the Speers Street AME Church;Belle Vernon;he was a choir director for many years. He was a songwriter and belonged to the American Society of Composers;Authors;and Publishers (ASCAP). He also was a member of Arden Calvert Post 167 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Charleroi. He is survived by three daughters;Mrs.Deloros Brown Levy of Buffalo;N.Y.;Gladys Brown Hughes of Midland and Mrs.James (Rossie) Robertson of Monessen;one sister;Elizabeth Ross of Youngstown;Ohio;17 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren;four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
