Mary Jane Lambert Scholl;76;of Belle Vernon;died at 6:27 p.m.Wednesday;July 8;1992;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Her husband of 51 years;David P.Scholl;who survives;is supertintendent of Belle Vernon Cemetery. Mrs.Scholl was born July 30;1915;in Belle Vernon;a daughter of the late Charles F.and Sarah Breakwell Lambert. She was a retired school teacher;having taught kindergarten in the Belle Vernon Area School District for 25 years. Mrs.Scholl was a 1933 graduate of Belle Vernon High School and a 1937 graduate of what is now California University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;serving as a ruling elder. Mrs.Scholl was also a member of the H.O.A. Sunday School Class and was one of the oldest members of the church. Mrs.Scholl was active in the Meals on Wheels program was also a member of Chapter No.196;Order of the Eastern Star;in Belle Vernon. In addition to her husband;she is survived by one son;David Lambert Scholl;of Belle Vernon;one sister;Mrs.Jesse Flanagan of Aliquippa;two grandchildren;Erik David Scholl and Kirsten Renee Scholl;both of Belle Vernon;an uncle;Clifford E.Breakwell;of Belle Vernon;and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents;she was also preceded in death by five brothers;Gordon;Chester;Edwin;Harold and Billy Lambert. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the James C.Stump Funeral Home;Inc.;Sweeney Plan;Rostraver Township. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.James Burton;pastor;First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. She was born in Clifton Forge;Va.;May 28;1917;a daughter of the late Harry and Rella Crook Smoot Sr. Mrs.Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. She is survived by two sons;Matthew Shirley Jr.of Fayette City R.D.1 and Charles Shirley of Spraggs;three daughters;Mrs.Thomas (Mary) Strong of Fayette City R.D.1;Patricia (Patty) Usher and Georgette Smoot;both of Belle Vernon;eight grandchildren;and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Matthew Shirley Sr.in 1971. Mrs. Speers spent most of her
adult life in Speers and was a
member of Speers United
Methodist Church.
She was an employee of the
former Kirk and Clark Company
in Charleroi.
Surviving are two sons; Van
Alden Speers of Daisytown and
James Phillip Speers of
S t r e e t s b o r o ; Ohio; two
daughters; Mrs. John (Rebecca)
Robbins of Speers Hill and Mrs.
Thomas (Elaine) Baldwin of
Akron; Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Alden Speers;on Oct.7;1941;three brothers;Phillip and John Bonsch;and August Langer;and a granddaughter;Cheryl Speers. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.;;with the Rev.John Flower;pastor of Speers United Methodist Church;officiating.
