John Alfred Reppert; 85; of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; May 6; 2004. A son of the late Paul C. and Myrtle Zundel Reppert; he was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 31; 1918. In later years; he was raised by his aunt; Edna L. Reppert. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; a past member of the church’s official board of trustees; a life member of the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 and a life member and past two-term president of the Belle Vernon Lions Club; where he served for over 50 years and was a Melvin Jones Award recipient. Mr. Reppert was a life member and past commander of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; a former secretary for the Borough of Belle Vernon and a former member and secretary of the Charleroi Hooting Club. He graduated from the Bertha Leonard Business School; retired in 1976 as a supervisor for the former West Penn Power Company; and he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Cavalry during World War II. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law; Edna Grace and Thomas Tucker Wilkinson of Belle Vernon; with whom he made his home; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Charles W. and Madeline Reppert of Waynesville; Mo.; Franklin and Jean Reppert and Ernest and Donna Reppert; all of Belle Vernon; and many nieces and nephews. Rose M. Parshall; 68; of Fairhope; Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; May 4; 2004; in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital; Pittsburgh. She was born July 12; 1935; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Adam and Marie A. Chubon Piersa. She was a 1953 graduate of Bellmar High School. Rose was retired from Central Tax Bureau as a regional manager and served on their board of directors. She was a past president of the Belle Vernon Area Football Parents Association and was instrumental in the acquisition of the victory bell in the north end zone of James Weir Stadium. Born March 22; 1939; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Henry A. and Fay Bedsworth Ream. Mr. Ream was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ream was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Belle Vernon; where he worked as postmaster for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Catholic by faith; he was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon. He had been a car salesman for many years at the former H&B Chevrolet-Cadillac garage in Charleroi and several other area dealerships. Mr. Steffey was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1958 to 1966 and was awarded the U.S. Air Force Air Medal for meritorious achievement during military flights while assigned to duty at Yokota Air Base; Japan.
