Lewis Conn; 93; of Belle Vernon died Saturday; November 24; 2007 in his home. A son of the late Rosario and Rose Renzi Conn; he was born in Tyler; PA on November 5; 1914. Catholic by faith; he had lived his entire life in Belle Vernon. He was the first person to do refrigeration work in the Mon Valley; had owned and operated Conn’s Refrigeration since 1947 and in the later years he worked with his son; Chooch; in the same business. Lewis also served in the U.S. Army in South Africa during World War II. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Ralph & Elaine Conn and Alex ‘Chooch’ and Denise Conn; all of Belle Vernon; three grandchildren; Nicole Niles and her husband Clay of Stafford; VA; Kimberly Conn and Alexis Conn; both of Belle Vernon and two great-grandchildren; Trevor and Teagan Niles. Mr. Conn; the last surviving member of his immediate family; was also preceded in death by his wife; Catherine Lackner Conn on September 17; 2002 and three brothers; Anthony; Michael and Ralph Conn. Phyllis Eileen Jones Godissart; 76; of Fayette City; entered into eternal heavenly rest on Thursday; Nov. 22; 2007; at Country Care Manor; Fayette City. She was born in Fayette City on July 23; 1931; the daughter of the late Willard M. and Lavina Jane Lindey Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband; James E. Godissart Sr.; in 1992. She was a 1949 graduate of Marion High School and a 1952 graduate of the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Godissart retired from Monongahela Valley Hospital after 40 years as a registered nurse; Nurse Manager and Risk Management. She was a past president of the Mon Valley Nurses Association; a Past Matron of the Belle Vernon Chapter; Order of Eastern Star; and a member of the Fayette City Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. A son of the late Van and Jennie Hicks Coatsworth; he was born in California; PA on November 3; 1914. A resident of Charleroi; since 1963; Virgil had been employed at the former Vesta 4 Mine and retired in 1979 from California University of Pennsylvania where he was a custodian. Betty Margaret Lazzari; 89; formerly of Belle Vernon; went to be with the Lord on Wednesday; Feb. 26; 2014; at the Hallsworth House; Monessen. Born in Belle Vernon on Sept. 12; 1924; the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Thieser Bell; she was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon. Though her passing brought much sadness; comfort is found in the fact that; having traveled the world with her husband of 66 years; Betty has gone to her eternal home and is now comfortably resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Retiring in 1981 as a teacher with the California School District; Betty devoted countless hours volunteering with the MVH Ladies Auxiliary; the Belle Vernon Public Library and the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Often called Smiley by the wonderful caregivers and hospice workers at Hallsworth House; Betty will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her amazing love; selfless giving; and the many beautiful memories she has left behind.
