Jane Bacala Gombo;of Belle Vernon; beloved wife for 61 years of Mike Gombo; passed away peacefully on December 28th; 2010. She is the cherished mother of Darcie Lynn Burkholder and son-in-law Douglas Burkholder of McMurray. She is survived by three adoring grandchildren; Brandon (Allyson) Burkholder of Atlanta; Georgia; Jared (Reylen) Burkholder of Apex; North Carolina; Devon Leigh Burkholder of McMurray and a 5 month old great-granddaughter ; Mikayla Lynn Burkholder of Apex; North Carolina. She was born on November 13; 1928; daughter of the late Harry S. and Catherine Bacala and sister of the late Ann Rozycki of Charleroi; Pa. After her marriage; she worked at Pagano Shoe Store in Charleroi; and after giving birth; became a stay-at-home mom. She liked to play the piano; enjoyed Broadway musicals and especially loved time spent with her daughter and three grandchildren. Charles Herbert Gilbert; 94; of Fairhope; Belle Vernon; died Oct. 29; 2012; at home following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 11; 1918; in Filbert; a son of the late Herbert Charles Burd and Anna Mary Stelle. He was one of four children. During his life he worked in the Monessen mill and was a diesel mechanic for numerous garages in the area along with working the Gilbert farm in Perryopolis where he was raised. Charlie was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening; boating and traveling in his camper with his wife; Rita. He is survived his wife; Rita Mae Farquhar Gilbert; three daughters; Edna Mae Maxson and husband; Byrl (Sonny) of Fayette City; Agnes Stasko and husband; Andrew (Sonny) of Belle Vernon; Charlene Duvall of Greensburg; sister; Mary Pearl Burd Wheat of Memphis; Tenn.; grandson; Craig Maxson and wife; Leslie; of Belle Vernon; grandson; Chris Maxson of Fayette City; granddaughter; Nicole Lamer and husband; Adam; of Belle Vernon; granddaughter; Rebecca and Beverly Duvall of Claridge; three great-grandchildren; Zachary; Gavin and Lily Maxson; and best friend and companion; Susie. Dorothy Lela Frye Glasser; 105; of Monessen; died peacefully on April 26; 2012; at 3:46 p.m. in the Monongahela Valley Hospital Hospice. A lifelong resident of Monessen; she was a member of the Monessen United Methodist Church; serving as church secretary; and belonged to other church groups and several lodges. Dorothy was born Dec. 16; 1906; a daughter of the late Ira and Lela Reeves Frye. Dorothy is survived by a loving niece; Marlene Frye Toth and husband; Ronald Toth; of Vestal; N.Y.; great-niece; Lynn Toth; of Brooklyn; N.Y.; great-nephew; William Toth and his wife; Claire; and two great-great nieces; Cassidy and Capri; all of Austin; Texas. Dorothy was employed by the Monessen Laundry for 34 years until it was destroyed by fire in 1971. She was cared for and loved by the Havencrest Nursing Home for several years. She loved them back. Hershel Duvall Gray; 85; of Donora; passed away peacefully in Mon Valley Hospital on Thursday; Dec. 11; 2008. Born in Webster (Rostraver Township); he was the son of the late George Lemuel and Margaret Gray. Hershel was a 1942 graduate of Donora High School and served as a veteran of World War II. He was employed by the American Steel and Wire Co. and later by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General. Hershel was also an ordained deacon at the First Baptist Church in Donora. Among his many other affiliations; he served on the Board of Directors for the Donora Chamber of Commerce; the America Red Cross and the Southwestern PA Area Agency on Aging Inc. In addition to his parents; Hershel was preceded in death by one sister; Rosetta Gray; and one brother; Grant Gray. He was married to the late Georgia Mae Troupe and is survived by their three children: Gary (Alice) Gray; of Petersburg; Va.; Guy (Cathy) Gray; of Baltimore; Md.; and LaVerne (Robert) Love; of Belle Vernon. Left to cherish his memory are three grandsons: Anthony (Christine) Gray; of Petersburg; Va.; Justin Gray; of Baltimore; Md.; and Sean (Marlyn) Love; of Penn Hills; three granddaughters; Stephanie and Morgan Gray; of Baltimore; Md.; and Brittni Love; of Belle Vernon; three great- granddaughters; Cheyla and Autumn Gray; of Petersburg; Va.; and Tatum Love; of Penn Hills; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
