John C. Somers; 85; of Monessen; passed away Thursday; March 13; 2008; in Meadowcrest Nursing Home. He was born Sunday; November 26; 1922; in Monessen; a son of the late William and Winiford Somers. He worked as a steelworker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.; Monessen plant. Mr. Somers was a member of Monessen Fireman’s Clubs No. 1 and 2 and the Ukrainian Club of Monessen. He is survived by one daughter; Armida (Bill) Dora; of Virginia Beach; Va.; two grandsons; 1st Lt. John Dora; USMC; of Camp LeJeune; Jacksonville; N.C.; and Jim Dora; of Virginia Beach. He was preceded in death by his wife; Donna Houston Somers; and seven brothers and sisters. Friends will be received Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.; 1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen; where funeral services will be held Tuesday; March 18; at 9 a.m. with the Rev. David Nazimek officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Monessen High School Football Program or Monessen Fire Department No. 2.

Marilyn June Kutcy; 76; of Belle Vernon (Fairhope); died Friday; March 14; 2008; in Mon Valley Hospital Inc.; Carroll Township. She was born June 11; 1931; in Washington Township; Fayette County; a daughter of the late James H. Miller and the late Ethel Kovatch Miller. Surviving are two sons; Norman C. (Peggy) Kutcy; Jr.; and David M. Kutcy; both of Belle Vernon; two daughters; Michelle Mazur; of Belle Vernon; and Kathleen (Arthur) Kalina; of Boonsboro; Md.; 10 grandchildren; Danielle Richard; Christy Chiaravalle; Lisa Zadrozny; Cheri Kutcy; Jimmy Kutcy; Jamie Kalina; Tammy Ramey; Becky Kalina; Amber Kutcy and Jenna Kutcy; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister; Ruth Ann Filardi; of Fayette City. She was preceded in death by her husband; Norman C. Kutcy Sr. There was no public viewing. Private funeral services were held today; Monday; March 17; at 11 a.m. in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; 334 Main St.; Fayette City. Interment followed in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
