FRED R. RISKEY
Fred R. Riskey; 88; died Tuesday; March 18; 2008 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Fred and Edna Hall Riskey; he was born in Fayette City on August 4; 1919. A resident of Twilight for most of his adult life; Fred was a member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801; served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army at the Nuremberg Prison and received a bronze star for meritorious achievement in ground combat in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations and retired in 1975 after 34 years of service from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. He and his wife built and operated the Twilight Camp Ground for over 20 years and he was responsible for starting the Interstate Camping Signs program. He served as Mayor of Twilight Boro for several years until 1985. In the early 1970’s; he was honored as the ‘Man of the Year’ from the Pennsylvania Camping Association. Fred had a book published on the History of Twilight and had an article published in the North American Whitetail magazine. Alberta Bowman Daniels; 86; born Jan. 14; 1926; went to be with the Lord Dec. 20; 2012; at her home. Alberta was born in Timmonsville; S.C.; to the late Edward Bowman Sr. and Annie Mae Johnson Bowman. She received her formal education and was a graduate of the Brockington High School in Timmonsville; S.C. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church for 50 plus years and former member of Chaney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in S.C. She was a member of the choir; usher board and provided missionary work in the community of Belle Vernon. She was a homemaker who raised 10 children; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Alberta was a pillar in her community; while raising her own children; she was gracious to volunteer her time for those in need of care; transportation and other valued services in the Mon Valley area. She was a poll worker dedicated to talking people to vote; during a time when public transportation was not as accessible. She was a devoted wife; loving mother and beloved friend. Those who knew her loved her for who she was. Wade; a son; Lawrence B. Wade; and siblings; Leonard Wade; Leroy Wade and Mae Davis. Trueheart enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private in May of 1943. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 36 years of employment. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Monessen. He is survived by daughters; Selma A.
