William Joseph Moore; 58; of Charleroi; passed away unexpectedly; Monday; Dec. 30; 2013; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born Nov. 4; 1955; in New Eagle; the son of Helen Jackson Moore of Finleyville and the late William Leroy Moore. Bill was a graduate of Monongahela High School; with the Class of 1973. He was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Belle Vernon. Bill retired from the U.S. Steel Coke Works; Clairton Plant. In addition to his mother; he is survived by his wife; Ivonne Sonya Moore; daughter; Karly Jo Moore of Erie; two stepdaughters; Tara Doggett and Joice Alouw; stepson; Gary Prosser Jr.; two brothers; Jerry Moore of Westminster; Calif.; and Glenn Moore of South Park; one granddaughter; Payton; and several stepgrandchildren. Also surviving are his aunts; Ruth Ann West; Mary Jane Shephard; Sandra Miller and Marlene Moore. In addition to his father; Bill was preceded in death by his first wife; Susan Moore. THOMAS A. QUINTIER
Thomas A. Quintier; 77; of North Belle Vernon; went peacefully with the Lord from his home on Tuesday; Nov. 5; 2013. The only son of the late Joseph and Mary Cicco Quintier; he was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 19; 1935. Thomas was very active in his community. Ever since graduating from the former Bellmar High School in 1953; he assisted with organizing class reunions. Thomas was a lifetime member of the Belle Vernon Fire Company and served as their secretary for many years. Thomas graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and also obtained a fire prevention degree from WCCC. He was a supervisor at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant; for 36 years. After retiring; he served as the North Belle Vernon Borough manager for 17 years. He also had been a councilman and secretary of council for the borough. He was a member of the Brothers of the Brush and the steering committee for the NBV Bicentennial and a former secretary of the NBV Blue and Gold Cadets. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion; Post 659. He was currently serving as the president of the board of the Belle Vernon Public Library and board secretary of the Belle Vernon Cemetery Association. For many years; he was the secretary of the Westmoreland County Borough Association. Thomas was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon where he was very active serving as the chairman of the finance committee; co-chairman of the annual church picnic for 20 years; and was in charge of the counters. Thomas was very musically talented; playing the keyboard by ear for parties; anniversaries and other gatherings. Thomas was also an avid supporter of the youth of the Belle Vernon Area School District where he attended and cheered for BVA at many events; especially girls’ softball. He also had a strong interest in photography and took many pictures at community and family events. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years; Lorraine Lemley Quintier; his twin sister; Joanne Schuster of Monongahela; sisters-in-law; Nina Valent and Joe Tillman; Patricia and Charles Christner; Gloria Lemley; Pat Lemley; Ruth Lemley and brothers-in-law; Jim Lemley; Mike and Lana Lemley and Joseph Valent. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; including Brianna and Emily Frederick; who called him “Uncle Schweety” and loved Thomas dearly and will forever miss him at family events. Also left to cherish his memory are special friends; Fred Fundy and Tom Rodriguez. Stanley ‘Scrubby’ Kroskie; 79; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Friday; Oct. 17; 2008; at 10:02 a.m. at TLC Adult Care Center; West Newton. Born Feb. 27; 1929; in Belle Vernon (Arnold City); he was a son of the late Walter and Della Grendolski Kroskie. Prior to his move to Rostraver Township; he had been a lifelong resident of Washington Township. Mr. Kroskie was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a retired crane operator from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport plant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict; having served with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Kroskie also was a member of the Naomi Athletic Club; the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club and the Allenport Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Roseadele and Bill Weston; of Speers; Tina and Chuck Fisher; of Charleroi; and Tonette and Carl Nicolaus; of Belle Vernon; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Edward Kroskie; of Monessen; Walter Kroskie; of Arnold City; and Joseph and Karen Kroskie; of Belle Vernon; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Bernie Chorba; of Belle Vernon; and Adeline and Ronald Lupori; of Dunlevy; seven grandchildren: Robert; David and Michael Weston; Amber Johnson; Lea Fisher; Carl Nicolaus IV; and Amy Nicolaus; and seven great-grandchildren. A son of the late Elmer and Genevieve Burton Walters; he was born in Belle Vernon; on Sept. 17; 1930. Protestant by faith; he was a retired truck driver and served in the U.S. Army.
