Yolanda Anita Neil; 96; died on Friday; May 15; 2009. She was born on February 19; 1913 in Cepita; Argentina; where her parents Carlo and Assunta Pesi had immigrated from Florence; Italy in 1910. Her older brother; Ector and younger brother; Carl and sister; Rosita were also born in Cepita.
When Yolanda was eleven years old; the Pesi family immigrated to the United States and settled in Belle Vernon; Pennsylvania where another brother; Ernesto; and sister; Eva; were born. In 1929 Yolanda married Clyde E. Neil from Belle Vernon where they settled and raised their sons; Clyde C. Neil and Carl L. Neil. After her husband’s death in 1967; she spent her remaining years living in the same house in North Belle Vernon where she and her husband had lived for so many happy years. Much to her delight; she had frequent visits from her family and many friends. “Aunt Yola” as she was called; was happiest when she had her family and friends with her. She especially enjoyed and loved all the little children when they came to visit her. Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband; Clyde; her parents; brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons; Clyde C. Neil and his wife; Dorothy; of Harvey Cedars; New Jersey and Carl L. Neil and his wife; Nancy; of Greensburg; two granddaughters; Debra Melusky and husband; John; of Manahawkin; New Jersey; and Darlene Neil of Allentown; Pennsylvania; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons and two great-great grandsons. Graveside services will be Saturday at 12:30 P.M. in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. ROBERT L. SHAFFER
Robert L. Shaffer died on Saturday; July 6; 2013 at Saint Mary Medical Center; Langhorne. He was 88.
Born and raised in Belle Vernon; PA; Mr. Shaffer moved to Bristol Township in the early 1950’s.
He was a member of Emmaus Road Lutheran Church; Fairless Hills; where he served as an usher and was active in Bible Study.
Mr. Shaffer was employed for over 35 years as a crane operator with US Steel Fairless Works.
He was an US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Bristol Township Senior Center.
Beloved husband of the late Dorothy; Mr. Shaffer is survived by his stepdaughter; Rosemyra Rubino of Morrisville; his three grandchildren; Victor; Valerie and Fay and his 8 great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his close family friends; Williams; Conaway and Lubinski families.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday; from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home; Inc.; 2200 Trenton Road; Levittown. Interment will be held in Belle Vernon; PA on Saturday.
