Kathy L. Klisowski; 55; of Belle Vernon; passed away on Saturday; Feb. 25; 2012; in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital; Pittsburgh. A daughter of Mary Sellaro Klisowski; who survives and resides in Belle Vernon; and the late John Klisowski; she was born in North Charleroi on Nov. 16; 1956. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was a former member of Anita Garibaldi Society. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; Kathy owned and operated Kathy’s Beauty Shop for 10 years after receiving her bachelor of science degree in business administration from California University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her mother; survivors include three aunts; Edith Lachowicz; Theresa Toth and Nell Amprim; all of Belle Vernon; and many cousins. Ila K. Chalfant; 81; of Belle Vernon; went to her Heavenly home on Thursday; Oct. 30; 2008; with her loving family at her bedside. She was born May 23; 1927; in Caldwell; W.Va.; the daughter of the late Frank and Ida Bradley Hewitt. She was preceded in death by her first husband; Mike Dzonko; her second husband; Robert Chalfant; her son; James Dzonko; her grandson; Eric Dzonko; and three brothers; Henry; Albert and Raymond Hewitt. Survivors include one sister; Edith (Donald) Urwin; of Monongahela; three brothers; Julian (Janet) Hewitt; and Ernest (Joan) Hewitt; all of Charleroi; and Jessie Hewitt; of Smithton; one grandson; Michael D. Dzonko; and one great-grandson; Micah Dzonko. Friends will be received Sunday at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.; Fayette City; from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; and Monday; Nov. 3; until 11 a.m.; the hour of service with the Rev. Catherine Babich; aka Kay the polka Queen of Fayette City; Pa; danced her way into Haven Monday morning October 11; 2010.
She was born June 28; 1918 in Grindstone; Pa.; Daughter of the late Michael Rusnak and the late Catherine Sikoryak Rusnak.
Kay was a hard worker all her life. Beginning at the age of 5; she was picking coal from slate dumps. Until recently; she was the Director fro the Area Agency of Aging where she became a master craftsman in ceramics. Throught her life she was active in her church groups and enjoyed participating in Slovek Festivals. Kay died a very classy lady with a love for life! Her favorite activities were traveling;music;polka dancing; trying different foods and QVC. She always spent time with her grandkids; Matther; a Podiatrist in Dallas:Joslyn; a District Manager for Ace in the MA/RI area and Vanessa; a Junior at Penn State majoring in Broadcast Journalism. She also enjoyed bestowing all her attention on her dogs; Lucy;Dillion and Harley. In addition to her grandkids; she leaves behing her children Joe;Marlene; Marilyn and George. We loved her and she will be greatly missed. To Quote Kay; her advice to everyone….. Keep Your Eyes and Ears Open!
