Michael Mendicino; 93; of N. Belle Vernon; passed away Sunday; July 31; 2011. A son of the late Dominic A. and Josephine Ambrose Mendicino; he was born in Belle Vernon on March 12; 1918. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he retired in 1980 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company; was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026; the Holy Name Society; Belle Vernon Lions Club; Belle Vernon American Legion; Fairhope Rod and Gun Club; M.A.R.S.; Belle Vernon Golden Agers; REAP Golf League and the Legion Bowling Team and former Legion Bocce League; both of Belle Vernon. Mike had received numerous awards including a Lions Club Melvin Jones; Holy Name Man of the Year and Knights of Columbus Man of the Year. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law; Emily and John Watson; Elaine and Thomas Barger; all of N. Belle Vernon and Gloria and Donald Ivill of Rostraver Twp.; one son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Michael A. and Cheryl Mendicino of N. Belle Vernon; three sisters and brothers-in-law; Rose Sabatini of Almont; MI; Norma and Ralph Falbo of White Oak; Teresa and Donald O’Toole of N. Belle Vernon and Nick Nuccetelli of Washington; PA; one sister-in-law; Catherine Mendicino of Belle Vernon and Rose Biagini of Charleroi; ten grandchildren; Anthony Watson and his wife Elizabeth; Michael Watson and his wife Bethany; Dianna Barger; Stephanie Barger; Michelle Ivill Baker and her husband Justin; Matthew Ivill; Douglas Ivill; Justin Ivill; Michael T. Mendicino and Samantha Mendicino; one great-grandson; Anthony John Watson; Jr. and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Viola Nastasia Mendicino on October 29; 2006; two sisters; Ann Ross and Adeline Nuccetelli; two brothers; James Mendicino and Joseph Mendicino; sisters-in-law; Irene Mendicino; Lucille Greyno (Andrew) and Alvina Bucci (Michael) and brothers-in-law; John Ross; Leo Sabatini and Norman Biagini. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home 3 P.M. led by members of St. Sebastian Parish; the Knights of Columbus will hold services at 7:00 P.M. and the Belle Vernon Lions Club will hold services at 7:15 P.M.; all on Tuesday.
