Doris Jane Gates; 95; formerly of Belle Vernon; went to be with the Lord Sunday; April 8; 2012; in Nevaeh Cove Personal Care Home. A daughter of the late John and Julia Ramsey; she was born Nov. 7; 1916; in Rice’s Landing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon and an avid bingo player. Jane resided most of her adult life in Belle Vernon; except for 17 years in Bentleyville from 1952 through 1969. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Russell L. and Mary L. Gates; of Bentleyville; one grandchild; Lisa Leach and husband; Daniel; of Bentleyville; two great-grandchildren; Hunter D. and Hannah M. Leach; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Roy R. Gates; Dec. 25; 2008; three brothers; William; Warren and Glenn Ramsey; and two sisters; Vera Jones and Donna Matson. Roy R. Gates; 95; of Bentleyville; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; Dec. 25; 2008. He was a resident of Thorpe’s Personal Care Home in North Charleroi. A son of the late Curtis and Hilda Smock Gates; he was born in Monessen on June 29; 1913. Roy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; the Pennsylvania National Guard in his younger years and retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. He also was a farmer for several years in the Bentleyville area and an avid bowler. Survivors include his wife of 70 years; Doris Jane Ramsey Gates; who also resides in Thorpe’s Personal Care Home; one son and daughter-in-law; Russell L. and Mary Gates; of Bentleyville; one granddaughter; Lisa M. Leach and husband Daniel; and two great-grandchildren; Hunter D. and Hannah M. Leach; all of Bentleyville; and several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Curtis and Earl Gates. Born Nov. 12; 1920; in Barrow-in-Furness; England; she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sylvia Peron Buxton. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1954; Mrs. Agnolucci was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a retired self-employed hair dresser and a former Brownie leader.
