She was born in Belle Vernon on Feb. 12; 1932; the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Warbotton Morton. She was preceded in death by a son; Frederick S. Federer; in 1981. She was a protestant by faith. She is survived by her husband; Fred Federer; of Belle Vernon; a grandson who she raised; Jason and wife Jenniffer Federer; of St Louis; Mo.; and a great grandson; Jaxon Federick Federer. Alex F. Butchie Basits Jr.; 75; of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; died Monday; May 21; 2012; at 7:12 a.m. at Shadyside Hospital; Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 1; 1936; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Alex F. Basits Sr.; and Evelyn G. Chiplasky Basits. Mr. Basits was a resident of Washington Township and was Protestant by faith. Mr. Basits was a retired school bus driver from the Belle Vernon Area School District; a veteran; having served in the U.S. Air Force; and member of the Belle Vernon Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 209; Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the East Belle Vernon Athletic Assoc. He was a very dedicated husband and father and loved his family greatly. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos. He is survived by his wife; Mary Ann Fryske Basits; to whom he would have been married 45 years on June 9; son; Lex Basits; of Chengdu; China; daughter; Susan Basits; of Pittsburgh; sister; Mary Lou Brewer; of Belle Vernon; and three grandchildren; Shayne; Patrick and John. He was preceded in death by his daughter; Laura Ann Aiello; and a sister; Betty Jane Simpson.
