Church; Belle Vernon; and a retired school teacher. She is survived by her husband; Andrew Ninchak; to whom she was married 15 years; two sons; Joshua Leopold and fiancee Erin Hinson; of Fort Collins; Colo.; and Benjamin Leopold; of New York; one daughter and son-in-law; Rachel and Joseph St. Martin; of Saratoga Springs; N.Y.; one sister and brother-in-law; Joann and Barry Adams; of Ebensburg; one grandson; Atticus St. Martin; and two nieces; Amanda Adams; of Saxton; and Amy Adams; of Ebensburg. John U. Russell Jr.; 92; of Liberty Borough; died Thursday; July 7; 2011; at Manor Care. Born Jan. 22; 1919; in Waynesburg; he was the son of the late John U. and Belle (Hartzell) Russell and the husband of the late Gladys (Carlson) Russell. John was employed by US Steel; Irvin Works; and worked in the cold reduction unit for more than 46 years. He was an Elder of Round Hill Presbyterian Church and member of the church’s Survivor group and choir; and served in the Army during World War II in the 40th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon in the Pacific Theater. John also served on the Port Vue Liberty School Board which became South Allegheny School Board. He belonged to the White Oak American Legion; Post 701; the Masons and Shriners. Survivors include children; Linda (Eugene) Himic; of Whitehall; and Jack C. (Mary Ann) Russell; of White Oak; grandchildren; Jason (Amanda) Russell; Sara (Matthew) Russell-Scholl and Ellen Himic; great-grandchildren; Abigail Scholl and Tristan Scholl; and sister; Sarah Eisley; of Clifton Heights. He was preceded in death by a sister; Anna Mae Malloy. Visitation will be from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in WILLIG FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES.
