Chester H. Ludwick; 86; of North Belle Vernon; died Friday; June 17; 2011; at 2:20 a.m. at Victoria House; Monessen. Born Oct. 31; 1924; in Star Junction; he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Strazinsky Ludwick. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1948; Mr. Ludwick was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a retired from the shipping department; Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant. Mr. Ludwick served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served his naval duty aboard the U.S.S. Enright in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of War. Chester was a proud American and loyal to all who knew him. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Chester Chet and Bonnie Bedell Ludwick; of Ft. Lauderdale; Fla.; Jeffry and Lynn Comadena Ludwick; of North Belle Vernon; four grandchildren Ben Ludwick and wife; Heather Borrow; Jamie Ludwick Ferguson and husband; Robert; Jesse Ludwick; Sarah Ludwick and fiance; Cameron Blair; five great-grandchildren; Lauren and Carson Ludwick; Emily and Carly Ferguson; Cason Blair. Mr. Ludwick was one of 12 children. He is survived by one brother; Richard Ludwick; and one sister; Agnes Krolik. Mr. Ludwick shared the last 11 years with Lillian Smereczniak; his loving companion; also of Belle Vernon. He is preceded in death by his wife; Margaret Ann Adametz Ludwick; who died Aug. 6; 1997. Visitation will be held Sunday; June 19; from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; (724) 929-6183. Prayer service will be held Monday; June 20; at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Chester Ludwick Sunday at 3 p.m. and the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Sunday evening at 7 p.m. both in the funeral home. Stephen P. Samek; Jr.; 93 of Arnold City; Belle Vernon; Pa; died Thursday; August 26; 2010 in Mt. Macrina Manor; Uniontown; Pa.
He was born April 22; 1917 in Arnold City; Son of the late Stephen Samek and the late Rose Pasterick. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and former member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Fayette City. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant; a Coal miner for 20 years and part owner of the Palms Bar in Fayette City. Stephen was a WW II veteran of the US Army Air Corp. and member of American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon for 58 years. Steve was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steeler Fan and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him in life.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years; Genevieve M Pabis Samek and Son; David Samek & wife Janet of Belle Vernon; Sister; Mary Muzina of Broadman; OH; Grandson; David Samek; Jr of Belle Vernon; Granddaughter; Renee Miklos & husband Barry of Belle Vernon and 2 Great Grandchildren Anthony & Ryan Miklos. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
