Lawrence Frank Palvekosky; 81; of N. Belle Vernon passed away peacefully at home with his loving family around him on July 10; 2012. He was born in Charleroi on August 25; 1930; the beloved son of the late Frank and Mary Rihtarcik Palvekosky. Larry graduated from Charleroi High School with the Class of 1948. He was employed by US Steel until 1952 when he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1956. He was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in 1959 as a machinist and later became a supervisor. He retired in 1993. Larry served one term on the North Belle Vernon Council and was currently a member of both the Borough Planning Board and the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department. He loved working with his hands and remodeled his home. Larry was a devoted husband; father and grandfather. He leaves his wife of 57 years; Laura Peroney Palvekosky; one son; Lawrence Palvekosky; Jr. and his wife Carol of Harrisburg; one daughter; Lisa Palvekosky Harris and her husband Barton of Seneca; SC; five grandchildren. Lori Palvekosky Klein and husband Michael of Dillsburg; Lawrence Palvekosky; III of Harrisburg; Ryan; Derek and Jensen Harris of Atlanta; GA and two great grandsons; Matthew and Logan Klein of Dillsburg; a sister-in-law; Frances Peroney Gruben and husband Melvyn; a niece Melissa Gruben Cisakowski and husband Richard; all of Coto de Caza; CA; a nephew Marc Gruben of New Jersey and dearest friends; and extended family; Sam and Sandy Cover of Belle Vernon. There will be no public visitation. Private burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Olga (Dudra) Garofalo; 91; of Monessen; died Sunday; April 8; 2012; in Dunlevy Gardens. She was born in North Charleroi on Aug. 8; 1920; the daughter of the late John Dudra and the late Eva Trembach Dudra. Olga grew up in North Charleroi and was a 1938 graduate of Charleroi High School. Prior to being married; she had worked at Corning Glass. Olga moved to Monessen when she married her late husband; Gasper Garofalo. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church; Italian American Heritage Society; and loved to cook and bake. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Dr. Gasper A. Gary and Deborah Garofalo; of San Diego; Calif.; Robert J. and Cindy Garofalo; of Monessen; four grandchildren; Kevin (Beth) Garofalo; of San Diego; Angela Garofalo; of San Diego; Tina (Brian) Solomon; of Morgantown; W.Va.; and Robert J. Rob Garofalo Jr.; of Monessen; two great-grandchildren; Brayden and Giana Solomon; and by nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband; she was preceded in death by a sister; Eva Yeager; and by two brothers; John and Peter Dudra.
