Born in Monessen on July 19; 1926; she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Rossa Naccarato. She was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. George P. Galla; 88; of Monessen; died on Saturday; Oct. 17; 2009; in his home. Born in Arnold City on July 14; 1921; he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Kolesar Galla. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.; Monessen plant. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church; and served his country as an Aviation Chief with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by five brothers; John; Joseph; Andrew; Paul (who was killed in action in the Korean Conflict); and an infant brother Andrew; and an infant sister; Mary. He is survived by his wife; Lillian M. Naccarato Galla; one son; George A. Galla of Fredrick; Md.; two granddaughters; Lauren and Aubrey Galla; both of Fredrick; Md.; two sisters; Helen Patrick of Monessen and Ann Ziemba of Alexandria; Va.; one brother and two sisters-in-law; Gene and Vera Galla of Grindstone and Maria Galla of Perryopolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn (Dodaro) Kowell; 77; of Monessen; died peacefully on Sunday; Dec. 15; 2013; at her home. She was born in Monessen on May 22; 1936; the daughter of the late John Dodaro and Teresa Altemare Dodaro. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Monessen; a 1954 graduate of Monessen High School and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter; Paula Kowell of Monessen; and a sister; Jean Stark of Monessen. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Paul Kowell Jr.; two children; Terri Ann and Shaun Jude Kowell; a brother; John Pat Dodaro; and a brother-in-law; Robert Stark. Joel Paul Mazzei; 53; of Rostraver Township; Belle Vernon; lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday; Dec. 11; 2012; at Jefferson Regional Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family. Joel was born on Jan. 15; 1959; and was the son of Mildred Knaus Mazzei and the late Frank William Mazzei. For the last 27 years; he has been employed by the Belle Vernon Area School District; 25 of these years as a valued member of the Rostraver Elementary School team and held in high esteem by colleagues; teachers; staff; students and parents. Joel was an active; beneficial member of the Russian Club in Belle Vernon. Joel enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time on the family farm with brothers; cousins and friends. He was an avid bow hunter; fisherman and gardener and a lifelong sports enthusiast. Joel often spent weekends with his cousins; Pete and Carol Mazzei; rooting for his favorite teams; the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Family time was a priority for Joel. He was a cherished son; brother; uncle and great-uncle; and will be missed.
