Trudy L. Schoch; 74; of Roscoe; Pa.; passed away peacefully Monday; Dec. 20; 2010. She was born July 21; 1936; the daughter of the late Lena Nugent Adams and Bob Holman. Employed for many years by Charland Sportswear in Speers; Trudy was an accomplished quilter and seamstress. She was also a member of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary. A lover of animals; her dogs; Lady and Sarah; were her angels. She is survived by her husband of 54 years; Alan C. Schoch; two children; Jeffrey Schoch and his wife; Lezlie; of Wilmington; Del.; and Yvonne Stack; of Laughlintown; Pa.; three grandchildren; Whitney; Alison and Matthew Schoch; all of Wilmington; Del. Alan C. Schoch; 84; formerly of Roscoe; passed away peacefully Sunday; Jan. 5; 2014; in Ligonier Gardens. Born Aug. 3; 1929; in Roscoe; he was a son of the late Carl N. and Elizabeth Eason Schoch. He was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country in the Army. Before being drafted; he was enrolled in the ROTC program at LSU; where he played linebacker on its football team. After returning from the war; he wanted to complete his education so he enrolled in California State College; from where he received his bachelor’s degree. He was a retired mechanic for Allegheny Power. Alan was past president of American Legion Post 801 in Roscoe; a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 252 in Donora and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 494 in Charleroi. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed dancing; singing and listening to music; especially jazz. Survivors include a son; Jeffrey (Lezlie) Schoch; daughter; Yvonne Stack (David Nelson); grandchildren; Whitney; Alison and Matthew Schoch; great-granddaughter; Aubrey Schoch; niece; Natalie (James) McCullum; nephew; Bryan (Michelle) Schoch; great-nieces; Molly and Emily; great-nephew; Aiden; and sister-in-law; Mary Louise Schoch. Alex Turda; 58; of Monongahela (Forward Township); died Monday; June 1; 2009; in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. Born in North Charleroi on June 25; 1950; he was the son of the late Alex Turda and Yolan (Adam) Turda; who survives and resides in Rostraver Township. Mr. Turda was employed by Volkswagon and also worked as a mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his wife; Karen S. Frances was born Aug. 16; 1920; in Brownsville; daughter of the late George W. Christner and Grace Ellen Coleman. A homemaker; Frances married David N. Hough on June 14; 1940. She enjoyed ceramics; sewing; and building and furnishing dollhouses. She was a member at the former Schoefield United Methodist Church in Millbrook; Pa.
