Edna Grace Reppert Wilkinson; 93; of Belle Vernon; finally got her wish to be with the Lord on Friday; Feb. 19; 2010; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle Zundel Reppert; she was born in Belle Vernon on Jan. 15; 1917; and was also the niece of the late Edna L. Reppert with whom she resided before her marriage. Born and raised on Main Street in Belle Vernon; her heart had always remained there. Edna Grace graduated from Belle Vernon High School and the Bertha Leonard Business School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon since April 5; 1931; was a past president of the former Tuesday Evening Civic Club; a life member and past board member of the Belle Vernon Public Library; a former member of the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital Ladies Auxiliary; and had served on the committee of the Washington Township Food Bank. Edna Grace had been the office manager for 40 years at the former Vizza Motors and Twilight Industries. James F. Mendicino; 89; of Belle Vernon (Washington Township); died Sunday; Feb. 14; 2010; at 6:40 a.m. at Country Care Manor; Washington Township. Born March 17; 1920; in Belle Vernon; son of the late Domenico and Josephine Ambrose Mendicino. A lifelong resident of Washington Township; Mr. Mendicino was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a retired union carpenter serving as union president for 20 years. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026; enjoyed bowling; working in his garden and spending time with his family; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army; serving as a forward observer with the scout 761 unit 398 field artillery; 8th armored division. Charles Benjamin White; 81; of Brooklyn; N.Y.; formerly of Monessen; departed this life Saturday; Jan. 23; 2010. Born Jan. 31; 1928; in Monessen; he was the son of the late Mary Kate and Phillip White. He was seventh of nine children; eight boys and one girl. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother; Phillip White; and sister; Anna Ruth Macer. Charles went to public school in Monessen; he was a four letter football player and graduated in the Class of 1947; at Monessen High School. In 1948; he moved to Brooklyn; N.Y.; and enrolled at McAllister School of Embalming in Manhattan. Charles met Marjorie Harris; of Brooklyn; and they were joined in holy matrimony in 1949. He worked at different envelope companies in New York and New Jersey. He was a delegate for Local 292 International Paper Workers Union Convention held at Hotel New Yorker. He wrote a monthly column for the Battalion for Local 292; U.P.A. and C.I.O. until becoming Cutting Foreman. He worked 49 years in the paper line; 35 of those years as foreman. He was a member of St. Ciceil Lodge; Chapter 34 Masonic Order and rose to a 32nd Degree member. Charles leaves behind his wife; Marjorie White; four children; Andrea V. White; Michelle C. White; Charles White Jr.; and Marjorie R. White; five brothers; Scipio White; Luther White; William Henry White; Theodore White; Fred White; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends. Scott has been a resident of Latrobe the past six years; and had been a maintenance worker for the former Skyway Cleaning Co. in Monessen. He is survived by his brother; Glyn J. Robert Raymond Crowl; of Belle Vernon; and recently of Long Beach; N.Y.; died Friday; Jan. 22; 2010. The cause of death was seizure which led to cardiac arrest. Two daughters survive their father; Julianne Crowl; 39; of Seattle; Wash.; and Jennifer Lee Crowl; 37; of Long Beach; N.Y. Mr. Crowl had suffered a massive stroke in June 2005; and lived since with substantial physical and mental incapacities. Since his illness in 2005; he had been cared for by his daughter; Jennifer Lee; and her husband; Christopher G. Rinaman; in New York. Mrs. Julia Jay Paholski; Julianne and Jennifer’s grandmother; of Belle Vernon; also mourns his passing. Born to Ann (Whitecheck) and Robert Crowl; both deceased; in Centerville; Pa.; Crowl graduated from Centerville High School in 1957; and received his bachelor’s degree in metal and wood shop from California University in California; Pa. He served in the Army from 1961-1963 in the Army Air Defense Command Choral Group playing concerts in venues all across the country; including Carnegie Hall. Bob Crowl worked as a salesman at Castrol North America; where he sold metal-working fluids to industrial machine shops in the tri-state area. He retired from Castrol after 31 years in 2000. Bob was active in the parish community at St. Anne Church; where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the St. Anne Choir. He was a favorite server at the church’s spaghetti dinners. He also enjoyed flying (he held a private pilot’s license in the 1970s and 1980s); woodworking; golf; playing cards; and cutting the grass. Bob’s pride and joy were his daughters. Julianne works in Seattle as legal assistant for Starbucks Corp. Jennifer is an actress and dancer in New York. Crowl is also survived by his brother; William Crowl; of Wheaton; Ill.; a sister; Marlyn Chiera; of Washington; Pa.; two nephews; Bill Crowl and Brian Chiera; and a niece; Melanie Hendrix.
