Many were saddened by the passing of Leon V. Johnson Jr.; of Monessen; whose courageous battle with pancreatic cancer came to an end on March 17; 2010. Leon was born on Aug. 15; 1947; to the late Leon V. Johnson Sr.; and Marie Johnson; who survives. A graduate of Rostraver High School; Leon was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who fought in the Vietnam War. Many years following his honorable discharge; Leon made yearly visits to the Memorial Wall in Washington; D.C.; until he was able to resolve the loss of his dear friends whose names appear there. He was baptized in Antioch Baptist Church as a youth where he was an avid scholar who loved to stand and share his thoughts and beliefs about the scripture. He was a trustee and keeper of the church van. Many looked forward to his barbecue ribs; church picnics and other holidays at his home. He married his high school sweetheart; Jacqueline Rone; who was at his side until the end. He was employed by Allegheny Power as tow boat operator and barge handler for 25 years. He was also an avid Steeler fan. He lovingly leaves his mother Marie Johnson; wife; Jacqueline; daughters; Erica R. (Dewayne) Harvard; and Lisa Marie Cotton; brother; Kevin (Denise) Brown; sister-in-law; Marguerite Johnson; grandchildren; Tyler; Trevor; Dorian; Kaeia; Stanchaiay; Naraha; Donovan and Gabrielle; and many relatives and friends. Leana Ingram was 85 years old upon her passage on 5 March 2010. She lived in Alexandria;Virginia with her niece Alma Ingram Withrow for the last twelve years. Her last moments were spent at Alexandria Hospital;Virginia due to cardiac arrest. She was born in Rockingham;North Carolina on April 10;1924 to Nevoida Aida Ingram and Leroy Aaron Ingram. She was truly loved and raised by her stepfather George Robinson. She is preceded in death by her siblings Leroy Ingram Jr.;Adam Ingram;Odell Ingram and Vivian Holmes. Leana graduated from Monessen High School with honors. Her best friend was Melissa Floyd Hill. After high school she went on to graduate from Douglas School of Business. While living in Monessen her life entailed work;volunteerism;and church affiliations. During her career she worked at the office of Monessen’s Mayor;NAACP;and the Court House of Greensburg;PA. One of Leana’s attributes was praying and interceding for others. Her prayers were answered quickly. A host of nieces;nephews;cousins;and friends are left to mourn.

The patriarch of our family; James Gerald Duke Ramsier; 76; of Perryopolis; passed from this life after a short illness; March 16; 2010. Son of the late Franklin Paul and Gertrude Brocco Ramsier; Jim was born in Star Junction on Dec. 7; 1933. He served his country with distinction in the Army while stationed at Fort Benning; Ga. A welder by trade; he retired from Mine Technik of America Inc. as plant supervisor. After retirement; he sought an active life; returning to the work force at Dongilli’s Auto Sales. Jim enjoyed a lifelong passion for harness racing; including breeding and owning standard bred race horses. Jim was devoted to the love of his life; his wife; Dorothy Tomalski Ramsier. The two happily celebrated 57 years of marriage on Oct. 17. Along with his wife; Jim is survived by his loving family including three children; Mark E.; Esq.; and Karen Kuklar Ramsier; of Belle Vernon; Marcia Ramsier Arthurs and Paul Michael Hoover; M.D.; of Rostraver Township; and Michael J. Ramsier and Tracey McMahan of Perryopolis. Jim was the proud grandfather of Claire Arthurs (fiancee’ Thomas J. Broeker); of Columbus; Ga.; Chloe Arthurs and Robert Arthurs III; of Rostraver Township; Amanda and Alicia Ramsier; of Belle Vernon; one sister; Delta Ramsier Pittavino; of Smithton; three brothers; Rhys Ramsier; of Star Junction; Robert (Molly) Ramsier; of Kissimmee; Fla.; and Bruce (Laurene) Ramsier of; Perryopolis R.D.; a sister-in-law; Barbara Garrow Ramsier; of Louisville; Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Lois J. Sloan Lyons; 73; of Donora; went home to be with the Lord on Friday; March 12; 2010; at Life Care Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 29; 1937; in Monessen; she was the daughter of Avel E. Wilcox; who survives; and the late Walter Wilcox. In addition to her father; she was preceded in death by her first husband; Frank Sloan Sr.; in 1972; her second husband; Verdell Lyons; in 1990; a daughter; Juanita Lynn Bullard; and two sisters; Jacqueline Cundiff and Georgetta Swanson. Growing up she attended Monessen Public Schools; then furthered her education at Franco’s Beauty Academy in Charleroi. She was employed by Petro’s Bakery and Donora Towers. Lois shared a great passion and love for people of all ages. Creative in all aspects; she honed this gift and used it throughout her life. She was a very loving; supportive and encouraging mother; not only to her natural children; but others she came into contact as well. Until her passing; she served faithfully and fruitfully in the ministry of her Lord and Savior; Jesus Christ. She was a devoted church mother and member of Free Indeed Ministries in Belle Vernon under the pastoral leadership of her son; the Rev. Frank Sloan Jr. She was a former member of Whole Truth Church of God in Christ of Donora; where she was licensed as an evangelist missionary; a church mother; pastor’s aid chairperson; Sunday School teacher; Vacation Bible School teacher; and a member of the Women’s Inspirational Choir. She leaves to cherish her memory six sons; the Rev. Born June 4; 1938; in Fayette City; she was the daughter of the late David and Ada Castel Usher. Mrs. Maglet was a homemaker and member of the Washington Township Fire Department former Ladies Auxiliary.
