Thomas Waterman’ Chunkala; 62; passed away with his family by his side on Friday; October 19; 2012 in Forbes Regional Health Center. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Panczyn Chunkala; he was born in N. Charleroi on February 7; 1950. Catholic by faith; he graduated from Rostraver High School in 1968. Tom had been employed at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant for 31 years; retiring in 2000. He was a former member and president of Mon Valley Cruisers and enjoyed car shows with his 1940 Coupe and 1949 Ford. For over 20 years; he sold die cast cars from his home. Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law; Amy and Rod Hussey of North Carolina; Cheryl Smith; Valerie Chunkala and Andrea and Sam Johnson; all of West Virginia; one sister; Marijo Day of Belle Vernon; one brother and sister-in-law; Jerry and Dolores Chunkala of Belle Vernon and eleven grandchildren; Matthew; Kepreshia; Courtney; Valerie; Lindsey; Thomas; Joseph; Kelley; Tanner; Kaitlynn and Ella. Thomas ‘Farmer’ M. Latkanich Jr.; 62; of Belle Vernon was called by the Lord and the angels of Heaven on Saturday; Oct. 13; 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born June 4; 1950; in North Charleroi; a son of Thomas M. and Margaret (Yuhasz) Latkanich of Monessen. Thomas was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a long work history; starting with the Boilermakers Local 154; in Pittsburgh; and was the proud owner of Slammin Sammies restaurant and bar in Belle Vernon. He had a love for drag racing and building race cars; especially his 70 Chevelle. He enjoyed being with his family and most importantly the lights of his life; his grandsons; Mikey and Marcus. Jack H. Mood; age 90; of Fayette City; died October 6; 2012; peacefully surrounded by family; at his home. A son of the late Gust and Lilly Glotfelty Mood; he was born March 6; 1922. Besides his parents; he is preceded in death by his first wife Delma Atkinson Mood and infant daughter who both died during childbirth; brothers Walter and Ed Mood and sister Evelyn Renstrom. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years; Florence Crampo Mood; son and daughter-in-law Jack and Rebecca Mood of Fayette City; grandson Aaron John and wife Samee Griffith Mood; of North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Linda Mood of Fayette City; and sister-in-law Nola and husband Edwin Pelczar of Belle Vernon. Jack was a lifelong Mon Valley resident and was a carpenter by trade; retiring when he was 78. He served in the US Army during WWII; where he received a purple heart and a bronze star. Age 77; of Belle Vernon; passed away Friday; October 5; 2012 with his loving family by his side. A son of the late Richard V. and Alverta Nelson Fields; he was born October 8; 1934. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Joann Fields on May 2; 2012; his son Dickie Fields; grandson; Jasen Winget; sister and brother-in-law; Lois VonBergen and her husband Kenny; sister-in-law; Adele Punky Nelson; and brother-in-law Charles Buzzy Vaccaro. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Jodie and Jim Winget of Greer; SC; sons and daughter-in-law; Mike Fields of Belle Vernon and David and Vonda Fields; of Orlando; FL; six grandchildren; Jarret Winget; Autumn; Austin; Garret; Connor; and Morgan Fields; his sisters-in-law Cathi (Marshall) Carpenter and My-Hoa Vaccaro; and brother-in-law Arnold Nelson; nephews; Kenny (Pam) VonBergen; Brian (Katie) VonBergen; David (Lorie) Nelson; Peter Vaccaro and Kevin Carpenter; nieces; Lori VonBergen; Barb (Tim) Mayer; Patti (Mike) Seacrist; Linh Vaccaro and Kerri Carpenter; as well as numerous great nieces; nephews and cousins. After a year at St. Xavier College; he served in the 82nd Airborne of the US Army. He was a graduate of California University of PA where he was a co-captain of the 1961 championship football team. He was employed as a teacher in the Belle Vernon Area School District; and a well known football coach in the Mon Valley for many years. He was 1985 Coach of the Year for the Big 10 Conference. He was inducted into the California University of PA Football Hall of Fame; Mon Valley Hall of Fame; and Belle Vernon Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; and an active member and past deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. George D. McFadyen; 85 of Bentleyville died Thursday September 20; 2012 following a brief illness. He was born October 24; 1926 in Wilmington; N.C. a son of the late George D. and Dolly Mills McFadyen. Mr. McFadyen was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy and had been employed by the Bentworth School District where he taught music and library science for over 35 years before retiring in 1986. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of California and was a member of the P.S.E.A.-R. He was also a 50 year member of the F & AM Lodge #237 of Beallsville; Uniontown Lodge of Perfection; Consistory of the Valley of Pittsburgh and a life member of the Syria Temple. On December 27; 1956 he married Monna Kurtz McFadyen who survives. Also surviving is a brother in law; W. Ronald Kurtz and wife Julia of Scenery Hill; a nephew; Ronald J. Kurtz and wife Mary Anne of Pittsburgh; and niece Mary Jo McAnulty and husband Bruce of Bentleyville. Mr. McFayden was the last of his immediate family. Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother; William McFadyen and a sister; Virginia Fergus.
