William R. Otrosina; 93; of Monessen; died Friday; Oct. 26; 2012; in Nevaeh Cove; North Charleroi. Mr. Otrosina was born in Johnstown on April 20; 1919; a son of the late Andrew and Anne Hudak Otrosina. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; having worked as a wire drawer and a die maker. Mr. Otrosina was also employed at Fosbrink Machine in Connellsville and Fayette Steel in Scottdale. He finally retired in 2005 at the young age of 86. Mr. Otrosina was a member for over 65 years of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Donora. He loved to garden; work on TV’s; repair clocks and watches; spend time with his family at BBQ’s in the backyard; photography and developing his own photos; and he loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was preceded in death by siblings; Andrew; Mary; Ernie; who died in infancy; and Robert. Survivors include his wife of 65 years; Veronica Balogh Otrosina; five children; William J. (Judy) Otrosina of Watkinsville Georgia; James R. (Debbie) Otrosina of Monessen; Janelle (Ernest) Halgas of Monessen; Craig (Lisa) Otrosina of Monessen; and Barry (Yvette) Otrosina of Glen Burnie; Md.; eight grandchildren; Susan Otrosina; Jonathan Otrosina; Kathryn Broullire; Joyce; James Jr.; Holly; and Sarah Otrosina; and Amanda Halgas; and one sister; Ethel Otrosina of Johnstown. Lloyd E. Halinka; 65; of Fallowfield Twp. went to be with the Lord on Saturday 20; 2012. A son of the late Edward and Gladys Stewart Halinka; he was born in Pricedale on January 25; 1947. Lloyd served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in January; 2009 after 37 years at the Irvin Works of U. S. Steel . Lloyd loved hunting and fishing; and was a fan of the Penguins; Pirates and Steelers. He was a member of the Pricedale Hunting Camp. Thomas Waterman’ Chunkala; 62; passed away with his family by his side on Friday; October 19; 2012 in Forbes Regional Health Center. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Panczyn Chunkala; he was born in N. Charleroi on February 7; 1950. Catholic by faith; he graduated from Rostraver High School in 1968. Tom had been employed at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant for 31 years; retiring in 2000. He was a former member and president of Mon Valley Cruisers and enjoyed car shows with his 1940 Coupe and 1949 Ford. For over 20 years; he sold die cast cars from his home. He was born June 4; 1950; in North Charleroi; a son of Thomas M. and Margaret (Yuhasz) Latkanich of Monessen. Thomas was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a long work history; starting with the Boilermakers Local 154; in Pittsburgh; and was the proud owner of Slammin Sammies restaurant and bar in Belle Vernon. He had a love for drag racing and building race cars; especially his 70 Chevelle. He enjoyed being with his family and most importantly the lights of his life; his grandsons; Mikey and Marcus. Jack H. Mood; age 90; of Fayette City; died October 6; 2012; peacefully surrounded by family; at his home. A son of the late Gust and Lilly Glotfelty Mood; he was born March 6; 1922. Besides his parents; he is preceded in death by his first wife Delma Atkinson Mood and infant daughter who both died during childbirth; brothers Walter and Ed Mood and sister Evelyn Renstrom. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Joann Fields on May 2; 2012; his son Dickie Fields; grandson; Jasen Winget; sister and brother-in-law; Lois VonBergen and her husband Kenny; sister-in-law; Adele Punky Nelson; and brother-in-law Charles Buzzy Vaccaro. After a year at St. Xavier College; he served in the 82nd Airborne of the US Army. He was a graduate of California University of PA where he was a co-captain of the 1961 championship football team. He was employed as a teacher in the Belle Vernon Area School District; and a well known football coach in the Mon Valley for many years. He was 1985 Coach of the Year for the Big 10 Conference. He was inducted into the California University of PA Football Hall of Fame; Mon Valley Hall of Fame; and Belle Vernon Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; and an active member and past deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon.
