Charles Richard Dicker Axton Sr.;58;of Lowber;Fayette City R.D.1;died Tuesday;April 9;1996;in Mon Valley Hospital following a short illness. Born Oct.24;1937;in Jefferson Township;he was the son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth M.Tiernan Axton. He was Protestant by faith. Mr.Axton was a U.S.Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. In adition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Joann Hrutkay Axton;in April 1993;a daughter;Cheryl Ann Axton;in 1971;a brother;Jacob Axton;and two sisters;Elizabeth Axton and Virginia Yakim. Surviving are two sons;Charles Axton Jr.of Charleroi and Scott Thoms Axton of Perryopolis;three daughters;Cynthia Zoppetti of Belle Vernon;Darlene Zoppetti of Perryopolis and Rachell Lynn Axton of Charleroi;three granddaughters;Alicia Zoppetti;Kimberlee Telegraphis and Danielle Zoppetti;two brothers;Russell Axton of Fayette City R.D. and Frank Axton of Vanderbilt R.D.;and five sisters;Lillian Kepsel of Belle Vernon;Evelyn Barnhart of Washingon;Ella Mae Namie of North Charleroi;Dolores Redmond of California;Pa.;and Rachel Stevens of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 11 a.m. in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home.
