A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area;he was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Fayette City. Mr.Bernardo retired in 1986 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Monessen plant;where he worked in the weld shop. A U.S.Navy veteran of World War II;he was a member of American Legion Post 659 and VFW Post 699;both of Belle Vernon;and Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge 494 of Charleroi. Mr.Bernardo was chariman of the credit committee at Valley First Federal Credit Union. He served on the reunion committee of the Rostraver High School Class of 1945. She was the first kindergarten teacher at the North Belle Vernon Elementary School and taught there for many years. She also taught at the former Speers Elementary School.
