She was born Dec.13;1899;in Roxboro;N.C.;a daughter of the late Benjamin and Hattie Johnson. Mrs. Harris had resided in Arnold City;Belle Vernon;the past 67 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Belle Vernon where she served on the Missionary Circle;Nurses Board and Pastor’s Aide. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Lucious Harris. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law;Treadford and Dorcas Harris of Belle Vernon;with whom she made her home;and Scodell Harris of Bronx;N.Y.;two brothers;Frank Johnson and Jack Johnson;both of North Carolina;nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was born in Commodore on Dec.26;1922;a daughter of the late Earl and Samantha Lunt Sr. Mrs.Howarth was a member of the Orchard Christian Fellowship Church of Monessen. She was past president and past treasurer of the Hungarian Club Ladies Auxiliary of Monessen. She is survived by her husband;John J.Howarth Sr.;a daughter;Karen L.Ditta of Canonsburg;two sons;John J.Howarth Jr.and Harry C.Howarth;both of Monessen;four grandchildren;Pvt.Chris Ditta;Frank Ditta;Sherry Hohn and Cathy Howarth;six great-grandchildren;three sisters;Helen Jadvk of Monessen;Mrs.Michael (Vivian) Bachinski of Monessen and Loretta Mitchner of Coal Center;and two brothers;James Smith of Charleroi and Leslie Lunt of Smithton. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by three brothers;Earl Lunt Jr.;Rhuel Lunt and Donald Lunt;and three sisters;Anna Mae Baumgardner;Rowena Prentice and Cora Lunt. Mrs. Hawker was a retired
school teacher from the now
Belle Vernon Area School
District and formerly had
taught for many years in the
Rostraver School District.
She was a member of the
Fayette City United
Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hawker is survived by
her husband; Wayne Hawker;
one son; Mahlon (Tony) Hawker
of Lorton; Va.; one brother;
William Burnette of Virginia;
and two sisters; Helen Clover of
the state of California and Hazel
Murray of Illinois.
There will be no public visitation or viewing and the funeral
service will be private in the
chapel of the Belle Vernon
Cemetery on Monday. Interment will be in Belle Vernon
Cemetery. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home of Fayette City is handling the
