Elizabeth Parry Ruby;84;of Baptist Homes Nursing Center;Castle Shannon and formerly of May Street;Belle Vernon;died Monday;Oct.28;1996;at 11:55 a.m.in St.Clair Memorial Hospital;Mt.Lebanon. She was born July 17;1912;in Belle Vernon;a daughter of the late John and Rosanna Rhoades Parry. Mrs.Ruby had been a resident of the Baptist Home for the past two years and had previously lived in Belle Vernon. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and the Belle Vernon Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 196;where she had served as Worthy Matron. A graduate of West Virginia University;she received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She was a retired teacher having taught at St.Sebastian Parochial School;Belle Vernon. She served on the Board of Elections in North Belle Vernon for many years. She was a former member of the Belle Vernon Women’s Club. Surviving are her husband;Stephen W.Ruby;two sons;Stephen P.Ruby of Red Hill and Daryle A.Ruby of Mt.Lebanon;six grandchildren;and seven great-grandchildren;and one sister;Ruth Shoenberger of Missouri. She was born July 14;1907 in Mt.Braddock;a daughter of the late Charles and Estella Hammitt Mossburg. Mrs.Roberts was a member of the Fayette City Christian Church for 49 years and taught the In Our Lord’s Service Class at the church for 40 years. She also served as deaconess of the church. Mrs.Roberts also managed the former Hagan’s Dairy Store in Belle Vernon for many years. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Charles Roberts in 1953 and one son;Albert Roberts;in 1953.
