since 1982. Survivors include

Rinehart and Sandra Rinehart;
both of Altamonte Springs; Fla.;
Pam Strubakis and Debbie
Cannon; both of Apopka; Fla.;
and four grandchildren; David
Ward of Altamonte Springs;
Flo.; Joanne Strubakis; Laura
Sutton and Jesse Sutton; all of
Apopka; Fla. In addition to her
parents; she was preceded in
death by a son-in-law; Michael
Strubakis in June of 1998; and
by her maternal grandparents;

Joseph E.Rocchino;85;of Hill Street;Belle Vernon;died on Saturday;Sept;18;1999;in Jefferson Hospital. A son of the late Salverio and Victoria Ganino Rocchino;he was born on Sept.17;1914;in Calabria;Italy. Mr.Rocchino was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and had lived in Belle Vernon since 1930. He was a member and past president of the Western Pennyslvania Hairdressers Association and of the former Sons of Italy in Belle Vernon. He and his wife of 54 years;Clara Duronio Rocchino;had owned and operated Clara’s Beauty Salon in Belle Vernon until their retirement in 1983. In addition to his wife;he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law;Cheryl and Richard Giuliano of Upper St.Clair and Janice and John Butitta of Rockford;Ill.;and four grandchildren;Monica Travers of Upper St.Clair;Ensign Ryan Giuliano of the U.S.Navy;and Erin and Joshua Luce;both of Lake Mills;Wis. James V. Digger Russell; 67;
of 44 Smith St.; Charleroi (Fallowfield Township); died Monday; Aug. 16;1999; at 10:13 p.m.
at home.
He was born May 19;1932; in
Charleroi; a son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary Mnttis
Russell.
Mr. Russell was a lifelong resident of the Charleroi community. He was a member of
Holy Resurrection Orthodox
Church of Belle Vernon.
Mr. Russell was 1950 Charleroi High School graduate;
serving as class president. He
pitched on the high school baseball team and was a running
back on the football team.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army serving in the Korean
conflict.
He retired as a tractor driver
from the Allenport plant of
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel
Corp. He was also a member of
the Charleroi Sportsmans Club.
Survivors include his wife;
Evelyn Mae Skurkay Russell;
three sons and a daughter-inlaw; George Russell of San
Francisco; Calif.; James M. and
Susan Russell of North Charleroi and Stephen Russell of
Baltimore; Md.; one sister; Helen Russell of Johnstown; and
two grandchildren; Stephanie
and Joseph Russell.

FLORENCE S.SALSGIVER ROSSOMME
Florence S.Rossomme;91;of Charleroi;died Monday;July 26;1999;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township. Mrs.Rossomme was born Nov.12;1907;in Home;Pa.;the daughter of the late John and Martha Harmon Salsgiver. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi and the United Methodist Women. In October 1998;the church honored her;presenting her with a proclamation for her service to the church from the Borough of Charleroi. She was a past president and member of the Athene Club of Charleroi and a charter member of the Charleroi Historical Society. Mrs.Rossomme became a member of the Auxiliary of the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital in North Charleroi in April of 1943. She served in various leadership positions with that unit;including three terms as president. She was also the historian for the hospital auxiliary. Through her efforts;the hospital organized a gift shop and developed several volunteer services for patients and their families. In addition;Mrs.Rossomme initiated and served as editor of The Pulse;a quarterly publication;produced by the Auxiliary for the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital from 1959 through 1976. This publication gained recognition on the state and national levels. In 1985;at the hospital’s annual Service Awards Dinner;Mrs.Rossomme was honored as the recipient of the Edward J.Protin Memorial Award. In 1993;Mrs.Rossomme received special recognition from the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources;Inc.;for her 50 years of volunteer service as a hospital Auxilian and in the community. In May 1996;she was the recipient of the Gibbons Award of Dimensions in Service for the Health;Social and Civic Well-Being of Area Residents at the Double Tree Hotel in Pittsburgh. Surviving is her daughter;Doris Rossomme of Charleroi;and one sister;Grace Kritzer of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her husband;Henry F.Rossomme;who died Jan.4;1986. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home Inc.;226 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi.
