Ida Stanley;87;of Los Gatos;Calif.;formerly of Belle Vernon;died Friday;May 6;1988. Born June 20;1901;in Belle Vernon;she had lived in the community for nearly all of her adult life. Mrs.Stanley was very active in community affairs;being a member of the Belle Vernon Women’s Club;the Order of the Eastern Star and both the Belle Vernon and Charleroi Golden Agers. Presbyterian by faith;she attended the First Chritian Church of Belle Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband;Thomas Gerald Stanley;in 1980. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law;J.T.and Vicki Stanley of Los Gratos. Graveside services will be held Tuesday;May 31;1988;at 10 a.m. in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Everett Henry Sears of Riverbank;Calif.;died Tursday;April 5;1988;in Modesto City Hospital;Modesto;Calif. He was 66. Mr.Sears was born Feb.24;1922 in Lebanon;Mo.;a son of the late Fred and Rachel Stover Sears. After retiring in 1976 as a switchman for the Milwaukee Railroad in Kansas City;Mo.;Mr.Sears moved to California. Charles C.Smith Jr.;66;of 1003 Henry St.;Belle Vernon;died Friday;March 11;1988;at 4:45 p.m.;suddenly;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Dec.11;1921;in Reivesville;W.Va.;a son of the late Charles C.and Sophia Godowska Smith Sr. He was a life-long member of the Belle Vernon community and was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II;having served with the U.S.Army. He retired in February;1986;from the Lee Norse Co.;Charleroi;where he had been employed as a machinist. During his lifetime;he had been very involved in political activities;and served as mayor of North Belle Vernon from 1970 to 1974. He also served North Belle Vernon as a Justice of the Peace for 20 years. He was a past member of the Constables and Squires Association of Pennsylvania. Surviving are his wife;Della Bochicchio Smith;two sons;Carl J.Smith;of Belle Vernon;and William C.Smith of Belle Vernon;a daughter;Mrs.William (Marlene) Helinski of Belle Vernon;three sisters;Mrs.Margaret Medica;of Pittsubrgh;Mrs.Michael (Frances) Gula;of Pittsburgh;and Mrs. Frank (Clara) Scotch;of California;Pa.;and six grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon. 1988; at his residence.
Born in Monessen on July 31;1915;
he was the son of the late Hollis C.
and Mary V. Moyer Sprouse.
He retired in 1975 from the
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;
Allenport Plant; where he was a
stacker in the shears department for
25 years.
He was a member of the Fort Burd
United Presbyterian Church;
Brownsville.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II; and was a member of
the Brownsville American Legion
Post 940.
He was member of the
Steelworkers Union and a social
member of the Hiller Fire Hall.
In addition to his parents; he was
preceded in death by his wife; Ruth
Ann Randolph Sprouse in 1980; one
brother; Argust Sprouse; one sister;
Evelyn Sprouse Brown; and a sister;
in infancy.
Surviving are one daughter; Sandra
Lee Sprouse; at home; three
nephews; Keith Sprouse of Florida;
Grant E. Brown of Michigan; and
Ned Brown of Ohio; and two nieces;
Janice Sprouse Dalton of Maryland;
and Carol Brown Townsend of New
Jersey.
