He was born March 24;1919;in Belle Vernon;a son of the late Peter and Mary Dudas Smereczniak. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area;he was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon. Mr.Smereczniak was a veteran of the United States Army;having served during World War II. He was a member of the Mon Valley Chapter 131 Disabled American Veterans. He retired in 1959 as an inspector for the Donora Southern Railroad. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two sisters;Justine Nogy and Virginia Smereczniak. He is survived by his wife;Lillian Matthews Smereczniak;two daughters;Mrs.Frederick (Marcelle) Frank of Leesburg;Va.;and Mrs.Charles (Renee) Roberts of Sterling;Va.;a son;John Smereczniak of Redwing;Minn.;two brothers;Afton Smereczniak of Belle Vernon and Phillip Smereczniak of Port Richey;Fla.;and five grandchildren;Lynne;John;Lisa;Benjamin and Philip.
