A resident of the Belle Vernon area for over 75 years;she was a former school teacher;having taught for several years in the North Belle Vernon schools. Robert E.Whitelaw of Cape Coral Fl;formerly of North Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;January 13;1987;in the Cape Coral Nursing Pavillion. He was 73. Mr.Whitelaw was born Sept.29;1913;in Belle Vernon;a son of the late Robert S.and Margaret Hough Whitelaw. A resident of North Belle Vernon for 70 years;he retired in September 1975 as lietenant of Plant Protection at the U.S.Steel Corporation’s National Works;McKeesport. He was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department;having joined in 1934. He served as fire chief for 26 years;retiring in 1970. Mr.Whitelaw was a veteran of World War II;having served in the U.S.Army. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church;Cape Coral;Fl;Belle Vernon Lodge 643 F&AM;Arden Calvert VFW Post 167;Charleroi;Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659;Westmoreland County Firemen’s Association; and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. William H.(Bill) Weightman of 307 Johnson Ave.;Belle Vernon (Pricedale);died Saturday;Aug.9;1986; at 11:31 a.m. in Mercy Hospital;Pittsburgh. He was 55. Mr.Weightman was born Jan.5;1931;in Pricedale;a son of the late Thomas Weightman (who died April 21;1978)and Clara Hildebrand Weightman;who survives and resides in Belle Vernon. He was employed on the assembly line of the Volkswagen auto assembly plant in New Stanton. Mr.Weightman was a life-long resident of the Pricedale area. He was a Protestant by faith. Mr.Weightman was a U.S.Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Scottdale American Legion Post No.240.
