Shirley Garner;aged nine years;daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Thomas Garner of Port Matilda;Pa.;was run down and instantly killed by a truck there Friday;April 18;1944;Belle Vernon friends were advised. The body is being returned to Belle Vernon for interment. The victm’s mother is the former Helen Nichols;well known Belle Vernon girl. Services will be conducted at the Toner Funeral Home by Rev.T.T.Jones;Methodist Church pastor;on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.

Mrs.Lyda Brightwell Glasgow;age 73 years;of Fayette City;died at the home of her daughter;Mrs.James Nichols of Grindstone;Saturday;July 17;1943 at 3:30 a.m. She was born in Belle Vernon October 10;1869;and is survived by two daughters;Mrs.John Harbaugh of New Kensington;Mrs. Nichols of Grindstone;and one son;Robert of Norfolk;Virginia. Friends will be received at the Bake Funeral Home in Fayette City until time for services Tuesday;July 20;1943. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. John L.Bake is the funeral director.
