James L. Nevin; aged 57 years; well known resident of Washington Township; Fayette County; died this morning at 7:50 o’clock at the home of his sister; Mrs. C. L. Griffith; of near Fayette City.
Surviving are one sister; Mrs. Griffith; and one brother; Oliver Nevin; of Charleroi.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon a the Griffith residence with interment in Belle Vernon cemetery.

Mrs.Sarah Ellen Norris;aged 79 years;died last night;October 26;1934 at 8:20 o’clock at her home in Maple Creek;near Fox stop. She suffered a stroke several years ago and had been declining in health since. She was born September 15;1855. On her birthday this past September 15 she and her husband observed their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr.Norris is aged 87 years and since their marriage sixty years ago the couple had resided in the Maple Creek section. For a number of years they have made their home at the log cabin near Fox Stop;in which Mr.Norris’parents formerly lived. The cabin is said to be more than a hundred years old. Surviving beside her husband are the following children;Mrs.Anna White;of Flint;Mich.;Mrs. Lottie Reed of Wick Haven;Mrs.Grace Simpson of Pricedale;Mrs.Mary Griffey at home;and Ephram;James and Jacob at home;eighteen grandchildren;5 great-grandchildren;one sister;Mrs.Lottie Butler;of Fairchance;and one brother;Charles Simpson of North Charleroi. The deceased was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Monday afternon at 2:00 o’clock at the late home with the Rev. Clemens in charge;followed by further services at 2:30 o’clock in the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Interment will be in Belle Vernon cemetery.

Word has been received here announcing the death at 1 o’clock Wednesday night;May 31;1933;of Hiram J.Nicolay;pioneer resident of Monessen.  Death occurred at the home of his daughter;Mrs.C.L.Cook;of Pittsburgh;where Mr.Nicolay and his wife have been making their home for some time.  The contributing causes were the infirmities of age.  The wife;three sons;Fred;of Youngstown;Ohio;Hugh;of Warren;Ohio;and James D.Nicolay;of Monessen;along with the daughter;Mrs.Cook;survive.  Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock;from the home of his daughter;Mrs.C.L.Cook;19 Club Drive;Brentwood.  The remains will be brought to the Belle Vernon Cemetery;arriving there probably there about 4 o’clock.  The Nicolay family came to Monessen in 1900 and resided here until about ten years ago when the home was broken up and Mr.and Mrs.Nicolay went to reside with their daughter.

Robert C.Nevins;age 50;of Belle Vernon;died at 5:30 a.m.Thursday August 27;1931;following an illness of less than two weeks. His death;which was unexpected was a distinct shock to his many friends;not only in Belle Vernon;where he has resided for alomst 30 years;but to the surrounding community where he was well and favorably known. He complained of being ill about 10 days ago and a few days later was removed to a local hospital. Besides his wife;Mrs.Elizabeth Nevins;he is survived by three sons;John;Robert and William;and two daughters;Ellen and Margaret. Two sisters and two brothers also survive. The deceased had been employed at the Rieck-McJunkin plant at Charleroi for a number of years. The body was removed to his late home;106 Wood street;Belle Vernon.
