He was a member of the 319th Inf.;;80th Division in World War One and served overseas. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Harriet Neil;a daughter;Gladys Rihaly;Belle Vernon;a son;Technical Sergeant James Neil serving in Italy;two brothers;Earl of Belle Vernon;and Harry of Bristolville;Ohio;three sisters;Mrs.Cora Mills;Belle Vernon;Mrs.Lorena Godissart;Belle Vernon;and Mrs.Margaret Acre;Smithport;Pa. John J.Nevins; 34; of 608 Ninth Street;Charleroi;died Thursday afternoon;May 25;1944 at 3:30 from injuries sustained in an accident at the Monessen plant of the Pittsburgh Steel Company. The victim died of a broken back 45 minutes after his admission to the Charleroi-Monessen hospital. He was working in the blooming mill when the accident occurred. He was a native of belle Vernon and educated in the schools there. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Isabelle Bendock Nevins;three children;Dolores;James and Thomas;his mother;Mrs.Elizabeth Nevins;of Belle Vernon;two brothers;Cpl.Robert Nevins in Italy;and William;of Belle Vernon;two sisters;Mrs.Ellen Newlon;of McKeesport;and Margaret Nevins;of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received at the late home until Monday;May 29;1944; at 9 a.m.;when funeral services will be held with Requiem High Mass at St.Jerome’s Church;Charleroi;with Father William Maher in charge.
