Mrs.Dorcas A.Smock;age 90 years;of Speers;died at her home Wednesday;February 2;1944;at 11:50 p.m. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon;and is survived by one brother;Van Price of Homestead;two nieces;Mrs.Elsie Ream at home and Mrs.Della Halstead of Charleroi;and one nephew;Harry E.Price;also of Charleroi.

Mrs.Mary Rosena Smock;aged 88 years;one of the oldest residents of Monessen;died at 1 a.m.;Wednesday;January 26;1944;at the home of her daughter;Mrs.Curtis Gates;801 Rostraver street;following a lingering illness. Mrs.Smock has spent her entire life in this immediate vicinity;having been born in Belle Vernon. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.Gates;two sons;Russell V.and Grover Smock;both of Monessen;three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Six brothers also survive;John Amalong;Fayette City;Griffith;Owen and Fred Amalong;Belle Vernon;Wade Amalong;Charleroi and George Amalong;Louisiana. Friends are being received at the Woodward Home for Funerals where services will be held Friday;January 28;at 2 p.m.;in charge of Rev.Ted V.Voorhous;of the Methodist Church.Interment;Belle Vernon cemetery. Frederick D.Steinmiller;aged 20 years;of 538 Washington avenue;Charleroi;died Friday;December 31;1943;at 6:30 a.m.;of pneumonia;in the Charleroi-Monessen hospital. Surviving are his parents;Mr.and Mrs.Phillip Steinmiller;and a brother;William Charles Steinmiller. Two sisters also survive;Mrs.Norman Reconnu;Charleroi;and Mrs.William McLaughlin;Monessen. Friends are being received at the home where funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon;January 2;at 3 p.m. Interment;Belle Vernon Cemetery. August Strumbus;age 60 years;died at his home in Fairhope on Thursday;October 7;1943 at 9:10 p.m.;after an illness of two weeks. He is survived by his wife;Marcella;one son;Sgt.August Strumbus;Jr.;U.S.Army;four daughters;Agnes and Helen at home;Mrs.Walter Wozniak of Fairhope and Mrs.Albert Neale of Belle Vernon R.D.;two sisters;Agnes Valentine of Mansfield;Ohio and Mrs.Anthony Kesros;also of Mansfield;Ohio. Three grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the late home;and services will be held there Monday;October 11;1943;at 9 a.m.;followed by additional services in St.Edward’s Church in Fayette City at 10 a.m. Rev.John Sedlak will have charge of services and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
