A member of Pricedale Union Church; Mrs. Turner had resided in Pricedale most of her adult life. She retired in 1976 as an investigator for the Auditor General’s Office. Jack D. Hackenson; 79; of Scott Street; Speers Hill; died Thursday; Feb. 14; 2002; at 6:40 p.m. at his residence. Born Oct. 6; 1922; in Pittsburgh; he was the son of the late Harry and Elvina Whiteman Hackenson. Mr. Hackenson was a resident of Speers Hill for the past 12 years and was retired from Pittsburgh Gage; where he worked in industrial sales. He was a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife; Doris Britton Hackenson; to whom he was married 61 years; a son and daughter-in-law; Jack E. and Maria Hackenson of Wake Forest; N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law; Linda and Richard Venis of Alpharetta; Ga.; four grandchildren; Troy and Todd Venis; Sheri Woods and Kelli Greer; and six great-grandchildren. A son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Morgan Howarth; he was born in North Belle Vernon on March 28; 1920. He had been a service station manager for Guttman Oil Co. of Speers and was an assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 510 in the 1960s and was a trustee of the Monessen Hungarian Club. Mr. Howarth served in the U.S. Army; 1st Division; during World War II; ranking Technical Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze and Silver stars. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law; John J. Jr. and Carol L.
