Lionel Joe Diethorn; 77; of Rostraver Township; died Saturday; June 8; 2002; at 2:15 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 18; 1924; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late George F. and Teresa Magdalene Funk Diethorn. Mr. Diethorn was a resident of Rostraver Township for 23 years; a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; and was a veteran of World War II; serving in the U.S. Navy. He was the former owner and operator of a service station located along Donner Avenue in Monessen from 1952 to 1972 and retired as a foreman; having worked for several major construction companies in the Mon Valley. Mr. Diethorn was a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He is survived by his wife; May Cain Diethorn; to whom he was married 55 years; three daughters and sons-in-law; Susan and Richard Bronder of Woodstock; N.Y.; Nancy and Bruce Raymond of La Grange; N.Y.; and Marylou and Ronald Todd of Jeannette; three brothers and sisters-in-law; George W. and Dorothy Diethorn of Monessen; Walter L. and Darlene Diethorn of Belle Vernon; and Dennis Thomas and Crystal Diethorn of Fallowfield Township; one sister; Mildred Allfree of Charleroi; two brothers-in-law; James McManus and Joseph Sabol of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren; Shelley Savatgy; Craig Bronder; Melanie Metz; Erin Todd; Amanda Raymond and Becky Raymond; two great-grandchildren; Lily and Quinn Savatgy. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Catherine Boltze; Evelyn McManus and Phyllis Sabol. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LEONARD J. A homemaker; has been a member of Lynnwood Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Charles Doty; and one daughter; Doris M. Marsden. John C. Salizzoni; 80; of Monessen; died Thursday; June 6; 2002; in Havencrest Nursing Center following a lengthy illness. He was born March 4; 1922; in Smithton; a son of the late Charles Carlo and Mary C. Orlandi Salizzoni. He was a life-long resident of Monessen; a graduate of Monessen High School; and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. Mr. Salizzoni retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation; having worked as an oiler. He is survived by one brother; Charles B. Salizzoni of Monessen; two sisters; Irene J. Salizzoni of Monessen and Gloria J. Robinson of Cincinnati; Ohio; two nieces; Carla Robinson of the state of California and Debbie Babilya of West Newton; two nephews; William Robinson of the state of California; and Norman Skip Santori of Pittsburgh; and four great-nieces. David Trembach; 72; of Indiantown; Fla.; passed away Wednesday; June 5; 2002. A son of the late Joseph and Sophia Fekula Trembach; he was born in Pricedale on June 12; 1929. Mr. Trembach was a member of First Christian Church of Belle Vernon and attended the Port St. Lucie; Fla.; Christian Church. He also belonged to the Russian Club of Pricedale and Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Formerly of Belle Vernon; Mr. Trembach resided in Florida for the past 14 years. He had been a teacher; principal and elementary supervisor for the former Rostraver Township schools and was an educational sales consultant for 18 years; where he served as president of the Pennsylvania Educational Salesman’s Club for one year. Mr. Trembach finished his career as an elementary teacher in Canal Point; Fla.; schools; retiring in 1992. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army; serving in Korea. Olga J. Lahey; 87; of Monessen; died Tuesday; April 23; 2002; in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.; Carroll Township. She was born May 25; 1914; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Edwardo and Domenica (Arnoldi) Contine. Mrs. Lahey was a 1931 graduate of Monessen High School; and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She worked for former Monessen Mayor Hugo J. Parente as a secretary; and later became a tax clerk with the Westmoreland County Tax Office; retiring with 28 years of service. She was a World War II veteran; having served as a sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps; and was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Monessen. Mrs. Lahey was also the former chairman of the Monessen Democratic Committee; and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Ellen L. and Michael A. Cmar of Monessen; the love of her life; her grandson; Michael E. Cmar of Monessen; three nieces; Kathleen Hubans of Toledo; Ohio; Honey Handyside and Patty Handyside; both of Allison Park; and by several great-nieces and -nephews. Mr. Marinos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen. A veteran of the U.S. Navy; he coached youth bowling at Brunswick Bowling Lanes.
