Georgia Stanko; 81; of Morgantown; W.Va.; formerly of Fayette City; died Sunday; June 2; 2002; at the home of her daughter; Judith Gibbs. She was born April 5; 1921; in Washington Township; the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fields. She was a member of the Fayette City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Judith and E. Richard Gibbs III of Morgantown; W.Va.; and Linda Lee and John S. Mattay Jr. of Fayette City; five grandchildren; Adam Mattay of Fayette City; Amy Louise Gibbs of Minneapolis; Minn.; Shelly Gibbs Stiansen and husband David of Indianapolis; Ind.; and Cheryl Elizabeth and Richard Zachary Gibbs of Morgantown; W.Va.; and one great-grandson; David Justice Fields Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her husband; George Stanko; on Feb. 16; 1996. Olga J. Lahey; 87; of Monessen; died Tuesday; April 23; 2002; in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.; Carroll Township. She was born May 25; 1914; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Edwardo and Domenica (Arnoldi) Contine. Mrs. Lahey was a 1931 graduate of Monessen High School; and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She worked for former Monessen Mayor Hugo J. Parente as a secretary; and later became a tax clerk with the Westmoreland County Tax Office; retiring with 28 years of service. She was a World War II veteran; having served as a sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps; and was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Monessen. Mrs. Lahey was also the former chairman of the Monessen Democratic Committee; and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Ellen L. and Michael A. Cmar of Monessen; the love of her life; her grandson; Michael E. Cmar of Monessen; three nieces; Kathleen Hubans of Toledo; Ohio; Honey Handyside and Patty Handyside; both of Allison Park; and by several great-nieces and -nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Edward J. Lahey Jr.; in 1972; a brother; Julius Contine; and by two sisters; Josephine Duronio and Julia Lipnicky. James Alfred Prentice; 75; of Somerset; formerly of Charleroi; died Monday; Apri1 22; 2002; in Canonsburg General Hospital. Mr. Prentice was born July 17; 1926; in West Virginia; a son of the late James Adam and Martha Dillow Prentice. Mr. Prentice was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Coal Center. He was retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin with 48 years of service. Survivors include his wife; Mary O. Grice Prentice; three daughters; LuAnne and Glenn Williams of Fallowfield Township; Sueann and Andy Ottoviani of Butler; and Sherry and Tom Cramer of Fallowfield Township; one son; Rick Prentice and wife Judy of Nashua; N.H.; two stepdaughters; Jane and Donald Marinelli of Shadyside; and Lee Grice of Pittsburgh; one sister; Mrs. Hazlett (Carol) Pierce of Marianna; eight grandchildren; Lisa Williams; Christopher and Shannon Prentice; Shelly Pelzer; Heather Tuman; Travis and Meredith Woodall; and Olivia Marinelli. Anthony N. Marinos; 49; of Fayette City; died Saturday; April 20; 2002; in the emergency room at Mon Valley Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Sept. 13; 1952; in Newport News; Va.; a son of Connie Strubakis Helton; who survives; and the late Jack Marinos. Mr. Marinos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen. A veteran of the U.S. Navy; he coached youth bowling at Brunswick Bowling Lanes. He is survived by his wife; Jo Ann Planey Marinos and children; Shane Marinos at home and Thomas Marinos of Florida; his mother; Connie Strubakis Helton of Belle Vernon; his mother-in-law; Betty Planey of Fayette City; one brother; Jack Marinos of State College; one sister; Margaret Love of Ruffsdale; two brothers-in-law; Richard and wife Maria Planey and David and wife Anita Planey; all of Monessen; and one granddaughter; Caylee Jade Marinos of Florida. Carolyn E. Betty Grazzini Peters; 77; of Sampson Street (Seldom Seen); Belle Vernon; died Saturday; April 20; 2002; at 2:45 a.m. at West Malden Manor; Charleroi. Born Aug. 20; 1924; in Donora; she was the daughter of Gladys Mullard Grazzini Pascoe; who survives and resides in McMurray; and the late Cardi Grazzini. Mrs. Peters was a resident of Belle Vernon for the past 55 years; was a graduate of Marion High School with the Class of 1942; and was a member of Community of Christ (formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints) in Fayette City; where she was actively involved in church activities and loved to bake for various church functions. She was retired from Union Cleaners in North Belle Vernon; where she worked as a clerk. Mrs. Peters had previously worked for the Bell System in Lancaster. She had also cared for her ailing mother for many years. In addition to her mother; she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Charles W. Jr. and Christine Peters of Circle City; Ariz.; Donald R. and Jean Peters of Huntington Beach; Calif.; and David A. and Judi Peters of Belle Vernon; one brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Marie Grazzini of Lower Burrell; one sister and brother-in-law; Jeanine and Matt Blasick of Carroll Township; and six grandchildren; Carolyn; Thomas; David; Michael; Dawn and Wendi. Walter Praskavich; 75; of Cherry Lane; Coal Center; died Saturday; April 20; 2002; at 8:12 a.m. at Jefferson Regional Health System; Jefferson Borough. Born Oct. 30; 1926; in North Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Wassil and Katherine Yodlowsky Praskavich. Mr. Praskavich was a resident of the Mon Valley for the past 45 years; having previously resided in New York. He retired from TWA in 1985; where he worked in the Ramp Service Department. He was a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Army; and was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; Long Branch Grange; and the Perry Township and Fayette City travel clubs. Nicholas Chabalka; 79; of Rostraver Township; died Tuesday; April 16; 2002; in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born in North Charleroi on Jan. 4; 1923; he was the son of the late Alexander and Pearl Chabalka. He was a graduate of Charleroi High School and Washington and Jefferson College. Mr. Chabalka was a general agent for Paul Revere; Chubb; and United Life Insurance companies. He also worked as a job developer with the Private Industry Council for several years. Having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps; he was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Monessen and Belle Vernon VFW. Mr. Chabalka was a member of the Church of St. Anne; Rostraver Township; and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus; Council 3026. James K. Adams; 71; of Broad Avenue; Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; April 16; 2002; in Canonsburg Hospital. A son of the late George K. and Helen M. Lehew Adams; he was born Feb. 26; 1931; in Monessen. Mr. Adams was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated the Puritan Insurance Agency in Belle Vernon for many years prior to his retirement in 1988. Formerly of Bentleyville; he had resided in Belle Vernon for the past 13 years. Survivors include his wife of 49 years; Donna Bond Adams; three sons and two daughters-in-law; Kenneth and Beth Adams of State College; Kirk and Noreen Adams of Mt. Beverly Yvonne Premoshis; 73; of Fayette City; died Tuesday; April 16; 2002; in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born Sept. 2; 1928; in Fayette City; a daughter of the late Clifford P. and Martha A. Hall Carlson. Mrs. Premoshis was a member of the Fayette City United Presbyterian Church. She was retired from the Municipal Authority of Washington Township and served many years on the Fayette City Sewage Authority. Mrs. Premoshis was preceded in death by one brother; Chippy Carlson; in 1992. She is survived by her husband; Robert Premoshis; and one sister; Judith Package and husband William of Fayette City. Mrs. Brounce; a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; was a member of the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene. She was a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School Class of 1998 and a homemaker.
