Michael D. Battista (Giambattista); 76; of Jefferson Township; died Saturday; Oct. 26; 2002; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 8; 1925; in Johnsonburg; a son of the late Joseph and Mary Gallo Giambattista of Aquila Antrorano; Italy; and Ridgway; Pa. He attended First Christian Church of Fayette City and was a member of Lions Club of Tallahassee; Fla.; Teamsters 872 Retirees’ Club; Belle Vernon Moose; American Legion Post 659; and the VFW. Mr. Battista was a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Navy. Formerly of Tallahassee; he retired from the former Fox Grocery Co. and the current SuperValu; where he was a truck driver. Survivors include his wife; Patricia Dubinsky Battista; who resides in the Beverly Healthcare facility; Canonsburg; two sons and daughters-in-law; Ray and Linda Giambattista; with whom he made his home; Michael and Shari Giambattista Jr. of Boston; Pa.; two daughters and one son-in-law; Lynn and Lane Sickles of Belle Vernon and Cindy Heichel of Frisco; Texas; two brothers; Frank and John Battista; one sister; Rose Brown; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife; Mary Kassler; on July 23; 2002; one brother; Guy; and one sister; Mary. Frances I. Olejniczek Usher; 74; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Saturday; Oct. 26; 2002; at 10:05 p.m. at Jefferson Regional Health System; Jefferson Borough. Born June 5; 1928; in Donora; she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Sickoviki Olejniczek. Mrs. Usher was a resident of Rostraver Township for over 50 years. A homemaker; she was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon. She is survived by her husband; John W. Usher Jr.; to whom she was married 52 years; three sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas and Cheryl Usher of Perryopolis; Robert and Martha Usher of Belle Vernon; and Jerome and Theresa Usher of Monessen; one daughter; Darlene Furyanic of Charleroi; one sister; Clementine Everett of Elizabeth Township; and eight grandchildren. Albert Figler; 80; of Monessen; died Thursday; Oct. 24; 2002; in Jefferson Medical Center. He was born March 3; 1922; in Monessen; a son of the late John and Susan Gondola Figlar. He was a retired teacher; having taught in the Pittsburgh Public School System. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh; where he earned bachelor of arts and masters of science degrees. He was a member of St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church. He served as a captain with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Lions Clubs; Elks 773; American Legion Post 28; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1190; all of Monessen; as well as the Pennsylvania State Education Association; and the National Education Association. Clifford E. Breakwell; 94; of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Oct. 22; 2002; in Mon Valley Hospital. Born March 26; 1908; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Edward and Emma Chance Breakwell. He had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant; as a project manager of the Coal Draw. Mr. Breakwell was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Belle Vernon; where he served as an Elder and Deacon; the F&AM 643; Belle Vernon; and the Shriners. He served for 35 years as a former member of the Belle Vernon and Belle Vernon Area schools boards; having served as a past president of the latter. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by one son; Clifford Lee Breakwell; and one granddaughter; Beth Breakwell Buchko. Survivors include his wife; Doris Adelade Breakwell; one daughter-in-law; Marion Breakwell of Belle Vernon; two grandsons; Scott Breakwell of Belle Vernon and Christopher Breakwell of Erie; four great-grandchildren; Nathan; David; Rachel and Sarah Buchko; all of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews.
