Joseph R. Pitzie Stonfer; 88; of Newell; died Tuesday; Feb. 11; 2003; in Brownsville General Hospital. He was born Nov. 8; 1914; in Newell; a son of the late John and Marie Orsega Stonfer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict; having served 37 years with the U.S. Army. He was life member of the Newell VFW Post and Brownsville American Legion. He was preceded in death by four brothers; Jack; Louis; John and Michael Stonfer; and four sisters; Virginia Lama; Mary Ferguson; Cecil Nold and Margaret Fedutes. Mr. Stonfer was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by numerous nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. Thomas J. Jack Moody Sr.; 72; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Saturday; Feb. 8; 2003; in Westmoreland Regional Hospital; Greensburg. Born in Donora on April 5; 1930; he was a son of the late Thomas and Anna Scott Moody. He was a 1949 graduate of Rostraver High School. Mr. Moody served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter in Carpenters Local 541 and was a member of the Mon Valley Leathernecks; Belle Vernon V.F.W.; Belle Vernon American Legion; Charleroi Elks; Monessen Eagles; and the McDonald’s Breakfast Club. Mr. Moody was Presbyterian by faith. He is survived by his wife; Dolores Trembush Moody; one son; Douglas Moody of Belle Vernon; two brothers; William Moody and wife Helen of Townsend; Del.; and Jimmy Moody of Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg; one sister; Anna Butler and husband Edward of Scottsdale; Ariz.; one grandson; Adam Gillespie; one granddaughter; Carrissa Moody; and several nieces and nephews. Patricia Nutting; 46; of Fallowfield Township; died Sunday; Feb. 9; 2003; at Mon Valley Hospital. Born in Charleroi on April 4; 1956; she was the daughter of Helen Kramrech Nutting of Fallowfield Township and the late Joseph Nutting. She was Catholic by faith. Ms. Nutting was a floral designer with Lucas Floral of Monessen. In addition to her mother; she is survived by one brother; Tom Nutting of Fallowfield Township. Anna E. Caterino; 82; of Monessen; passed away in her home on Saturday; Feb. 8; 2003. Born Oct. 10; 1920; in Monessen; she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Marietta Wheatley McLaughlin. Mrs. Caterino had been a member of the French Club Ladies Auxiliary of Monessen. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Caterino; two sisters; Norma McLaughlin and Marietta Fleming; and one great-grandchild. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph and Jackie Caterino of Elkhart; Ind.; and Don and Vicki Caterino of Monessen; two daughters; Joann Leber of South Dakota and Donna Caterino of Monessen; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A son of the late John and Margaret Sobosle; he was born in Pricedale on April 29; 1922. Protestant by faith; Mr. Syabosol was a member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club; Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; and Charleroi VFW Post 167. He had resided in Belle Vernon for over 60 years and retired in 1987 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 48 years; Elizabeth Holan Syabosol; one daughter; Marilynn Syabosol; at home; three sisters; Helen Andrachek of Belle Vernon; Julia Schewit of Las Vegas; Nev.; and Mary Horvat of Charleroi; and one brother; Andrew Sobosle of Pottsboro; Texas. Kenneth Dale Midlam; 95; of Latrobe; died Wednesday; Jan. 29; 2003; in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born June 5; 1907; in Marion; Ohio; a son of the late Albert C. and Zina (Young) Midlam. Prior to retirement in 1972; Ken was a metallurgist for Standard Steel in Latrobe with more than 40 years of service. He was a very active member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church; its Men’s Bible Class and the Adult Seniors of the church. He attended Ohio State University and Carnegie Mellon University. Ken was also an honorary life member of the Latrobe Rotary Club; a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Latrobe Lodge #907; and a member of the Latrobe Golden Agers. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife; Jean Baker Midlam; his second wife; Ruth Stahl Midlam; and two sisters; Adrienne Uncapher and Marian Richardson. He is survived by four children; Robert A. Midlam of Latrobe; Kenneth Dale Midlam II and his wife; Ellen; of Potomac; Md.; Lewis C.
