Victoria will be most remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who had a great love of the outdoors and as one who enjoyed traveling. She’d make regular weekend trips to the Northern Allegheny Mountains in her earlier years to assist the family during their hunting and fishing expeditions. Her other passions included gardening and sewing. She designed and made all her own clothing and sewed for others as well. Frank L. Manown; 74; of Belle Vernon (Lynnwood); died Wednesday; July 27; 2005; in his home. A son of the late Clinton H. and Ida Lermineaux Manown; he was born in Rostraver Township on March 15; 1931. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was a member of Calvary Bible Church in North Charleroi and a charter member of the Laurel Hunting Lodge. An avid golfer; Mr. Manown was inducted to the Belle Vernon Football Hall of Fame and was a corporal in the U.S. Army; serving with the combat engineers during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1987 after 36 years from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.; where he was a motor inspector. Survivors include his wife; Mary Roush Manown; with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on Oct. 19; 2005; a daughter; Melanie Bryner and husband Donald of Florida; two sons; Frank C. George Warren Hill Jr.; 78; of Charleroi; departed this life on Tuesday; July 19; 2005. Born on March 15; 1927; in Arnold City; he was the son of the late George Sr. and Hazel Hill. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; Katherine Marie Thomas-Hill; four brothers; James Elliot Hill; Thomas Eugene Hill; Neil Crawford Hill; and Bruce Elliot Hill; and three sisters; Hazel Barbara Garland; Mary Louise Smith and Alice Reddick. A lifelong resident of the Mon Valley; George worked and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant; after 30 years. After his retirement; he was employed by Gregg Security as a security guard at Mon Valley Hospital for 15 years until an injury forced him to retire once again. George was a faithful member and deacon of Union Baptist Church in Monessen. Through all his mature life; Deacon Hill loved the Lord and remained a humble man who derived great strength from his trust in God. Wherever Deacon Hill traveled; he was always remembered for his beautiful warm smile; his firm handshake and his gently resonant voice. When it was time to depart one’s company; George would never say goodbye; instead he would always say So long for now . He leaves to cherish his memory and bid him a loving So long; for now are three daughters; Valerie Hill of California; Tawndra Shorter and husband Bryon of Clinton; Md.; and Kimberly Hill of Waldorf; Md.; one son; George W. Mr. Celaschi was a former member and past champion of Jay’s Golf League and was formerly the mayor of Speers Borough. Tucker and his wife owned and operated Jay’s Tavern from 1978 to 1994. He retired after 31 years from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.
