She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Anna Marie Island; Fla. Mrs. Nole was preceded in death by her husband; John T. Nole Sr.; two sisters; Helen Fee and Ruth Wheatley; one brother; Harold McLain; one grandson; Eric Nole; one great-grandson; Jesse Nole; one great-granddaughter; Brooklyn Talley. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law;; John T. Jr. and Nova R. Nole of Genoa; Neb.; Richard M. Mary R. Rogowitz; 92; formerly of Monessen; died Thursday; June 30; 2005; in Cameron Glen Nursing Home; Reston; Va. Born in Belle Vernon on May 13; 1913; she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Ferderico Rizzutto. Mrs. Rogowitz moved to Virginia to be near her son in 1992. She was an active member and volunteer in the Cascades Senior Center and traveled extensively in the last 13 years; including four cruises and two trips to Europe. While in Monessen she was a member and past president of the VFW Post 1190 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a current member of St. Andrews the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Rogowitz; in 1981; five brothers; James; Samuel; Albert; Joseph and Robert Rizzutto; and three sisters; Theresa; Ann and Margaret. She is survived by a son; Harry M. Rogowitz of Oakton; Va.; a brother; Louis Rizzutto of Pittsburgh; a sister; Doris Jean of Hernando; Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a granddog; Mikki Anne. Catholic by faith; he was a lifelong resident of Monessen. Mr. Tatsch worked as a printer throughout the Mon Valley and was formerly a member of the Raven’s Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. AURORA CECILE OLSONROUSSEAUX SHERWIN
Aurora C. Olson Sherwin; of Rostraver Township; died Saturday; June 25; 2005. She was born the sixth of 10 children to Arthur and Clotilde Joris Rousseaux on Nov. 2; 1907; (the day the Charleroi-Monessen Bridge was opened). In 1936 she married C. Ted Olson; who died in 1968. Ora graduated from Monessen High School in 1926. She had begun her teacher training while in her junior year of high school and completed her studies at California Normal School (now California University of Pennsylvania) in 1927. Ora taught for 27 years in various schools in Belle Vernon and Rostraver Township. She is remembered fondly by her students and their families for her gentle and encouraging style of teaching. Ora organized the first PTA in Rostraver Township schools and was elected president for eight consecutive years. She was later honored for her service by the PA Congress of Parents and Teachers. Ora was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Belle Vernon Area Schools. She was also instrumental in the development of the Head Start program in the BVA School District. She was an ardent believer in the importance of reading to children and published her own book; Mr. Happy; the School Bus ; in 2002. Ora was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; Chapter 205; Monessen. She worked with her second husband; Claude Sherwin; on many activities at the Masonic Temple in Monessen. Ora was a member of Pricedale Union Church for 60 years. She sang in the choir until she was 80. Her love of music is reflected in her lifelong support of the musical talents of her children; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ora was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; all sisters and brothers; and an infant son; Carl Eugene; in 1940. She is survived by her daughter; Diane (Dr. David) Sommerville; of Cooperstown; N.Y.; her sons; Richard (Linda) Olson; of Phoenix; Ariz.; and David (Kay) Olson of Belle Vernon; with whom she made her home in recent years; two grandsons; Dr. Brian Sommerville of St. Louis; Mo.; and David (Maria) Sommerville of Rochester; N.Y.; and one great-granddaughter; Rory Sommerville of Rochester; N.Y. Ora will be sadly missed and treasured in memory by all who knew her. Virginia Monita Urchick; 76; of Monessen; died peacefully on Saturday; June 11; 2005 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born Aug. 29; 1928 in Ethelbert; Manitoba; she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Shlanta Monita. She spent a lifetime providing joy to others and was known for her unique sense of humor. A lifelong resident of Monessen; she was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon and retired from Corning Glass in Charleroi. Virginia was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation. She is survived by a daughter; Dr Stephanie Urchick of Canonsburg; a son and daughter-in-law; Stephen and Tammy Painter Urchick of Safety Harbor; Fla.; grandchildren; Stephen and Marina Urchick; a sister; Victoria LaPenna; a sister-in-law; Anna May Hayden; and nieces; nephews and godchildren.
