Linda Paterra Picchiarini; 90; of North Belle Vernon; died Sunday August 13; 2006 at 12:08 AM in Comenaugh Hospital; Johnstown.
Born October 8; 1915 in Monessen; she was the daughter of the late Sistino and Clelia DiIorio Paterra.
Mrs. Picchiarini was a retired secretary to the librarian at Belle Vernon Area High School and member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon.
She is survived by 2 daughters and sons in law; Olivia and Andrew Ninchak of North Belle Vernon; Joann and Barry Adams of Ebensburg; PA; 5 grandchildren Joshua Leopold of Pittsburgh; Rachel and Benjamin Leopold both of New York City; Amanda and Amy Adams both of Ebensburg. She is preceeded in death by her husband Ilvo Picchiarini Dec. 16; 1980; a sister Hilda Salotti; 4 brothers Guy; John; Frank and Bernard Paterra.

Johanna Tordy Semancik; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Twp.); passed away Wednesday at 7:12 pm; August 9; 2006 at the age of 86 with family at her side at Sphar’s Personal Care Home; Belle Vernon.
Born March 20; 1920 in Pricedale; PA she was the daughter of the late Julia Puskaus and Joesph Tordy operators of a thriving grocery store until its demise during the great depression.
She was married to her beloved husband Andrew for 58 years until his passing in 1997. A lifelong member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; Johanna was active in the Ladies Guild and was a past Grand Regent of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522. She was one of the founding members of the Hungarian Ladies Auxillary where she and several other members performed authentic Hungarian folk dances in native costumes. Her greatest treasure in life; she always said; was her loving family all of which she was most proud. Jonathan C. Willey; 25; of Rostraver Township; died Friday; Aug. 4; 2006. The son of Eileen Sitko Willey; who survives and resides in Rostraver Township; and the late John Jack Willey; he was born in Pittsburgh on May 28; 1981. He was a member of St. Anne Roman Catholic Church; of Rostraver Township; where he had been an altar server and a Eucharistic minister for many years. He graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1999; and attended St. Vincent College and Westmoreland County Community College. He was a past member of Boy Scout Troop 1590; where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was employed by the Westmoreland County Airport Authority in Rostraver. Frank A. Kostelac; a lifelong resident of Fairhope; died Monday morning; July 31; 2006; after nearly 93 years of life. Mr. Kostelac was a longstanding employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; where he maintained convivial relationships with his fellow workers. His avocation and true calling; music; sustained him spiritually throughout his long life. As a founding member of the Croatian folk orchestra; The Blue Danube; he entertained hundreds of people in the tri-state area at various events and venues; creating an avid following. He recorded several traditional Croatian favorites with his fellow band members and later also went on to play with other folk and popular bands. Mr. Kostelac was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-four years; Helen Bezego Kostelac; in 1999; and his first child; Franklin Dennis; in 1951. He was the devoted father of three surviving children; Rosemary Zir; of Sherborn; Mass.; Diana Kostelac Rosen; of Mendham; N.J.; and Thomas J. Kostelac; of Fayette City; along with their respective spouses; Dr. Leonard Zir; Daniel I. Rosen and Debra Kostelac. Among his five grandchildren; of whom he was most enamored and proud; was his eldest; Heather D. Zir; who passed from this life in 2004. Surviving grandchildren are Hilary Zir Hearty; along with her husband Alan Hearty; and Lindsay Zir; both of Los Angeles; Calif.; Elizabeth Kostelac; of New York; and Sarah Kostelac; a student at the University of Pittsburgh.
