She was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area; Rostraver Township; and enjoyed cooking; bingo and reading. Anne Roman; of Monessen; died peacefully on Sunday; Aug. 27; 2006; in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. She was born in Monessen; the daughter of the late John and Susan Golomb Figler. Mrs. Roman was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. She was a member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Monessen and its Ladies Altar Guild. Mrs. Roman had most recently worked for the Area Agency on Aging as a receptionist and previously as a bookkeeper and partner for 30 years with her husband at the former Monessen Sports Shop. She started her career as a clerk in the payroll department of the former Pages Steel. But her most important job; and the one that gave her the most pleasure; was being a loving mother and grandmother to her three daughters and six grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; Peter Bud Roman; with whom she had a wonderful and loving relationship for 63 years; three daughters and sons-in-law; LaVonne and James McFarland; of Houston; Texas; Sandra and Ronald Caporossi; of Willoughby Hills; Ohio; and Deborah and David Martin; of Centreville; Va.; six grandchildren who were the light of her life; Mary and Amy McFarland; Katie Caporossi; and Lindsay; Danielle and Brett Martin; two sisters-in-law; Gilda Figler; of Monessen; and Margaret Roman; of Dover; Del.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. A daughter of the late August and Rose Cipperone Quintier; she was born in Belle Vernon on July 3; 1908. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; the United Methodist Women and the Ruth Circle. Jennie was a past matron from 1970 to 1971 of the former Eastern Star; Chapter 196. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1927 and taught for 43 years in the Belle Vernon School District; retiring in 1970. Other memberships included the PA State Education Association; the Westmoreland County Retired Teachers Association and the PA Retired Public School Employees Association. Survivors include her husband of 66 years; Frank F. A son of the late Samuel E. and Alma Paulson West; he was born in Martins Ferry; W.Va.; on March 12; 1922. Until his recent illness; he had resided in Charleroi since 1975. He retired in 1982 from the Edgar Thompson Plant of U.S. Steel; where he was a craneman. A U.S. Army; World War II veteran; he was a life member of the Charleroi American Legion; Post 22; VFW Post 699; the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association; the 25th Infantry Division Association; and a life member and past commander of VFW Post 167. Herbert H. Mollard Jr.; 85; of Washington Township; died Sunday; April 13; 2003 in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Herbert and Amelia Jolley Mollard; he was born in Fairhope (Belle Vernon) on March 23; 1918. Mr. Mollard was a member of the Fayette City Christian Church where he had been an elder for over 30 years and was currently an elder emeritus. As a hobby; he enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes in Rostraver Township. A lifelong resident of Washington Township; he had worked for 10 years as a coal miner and retired from Corning Glass after 34 years. Survivors include his wife of 63 years; Ethel Scanlon Mollard; and two sisters; Martha Houtz of Alabama and Doris Gerard of Charleroi. He was a resident of Uniontown for the past three years; having previously resided in the Mon Valley. Mr. Turner was Catholic by faith; a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and had attended Geneva College. He was a realtor for 30 years and also a developer of Willowbrook Ridge; Spring Grove and Cedar Hills. He was working with a new development called Crystal Springs in Uniontown and with Century 21 Frontier Realty. George was a member of the National and Pennsylvania Board of Realtors.
