Keith Albert Moeller; 78; of Rostraver Township; formerly of Fallowfield Township; died Tuesday; Oct. 2; 2007; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was employed as a civil engineer by People’s Natural Gas Co. for 32 years before retiring from People’s Gateway Two Division. Keith attended Carnegie Mellon University as a voice major and then transferred to the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Keith earned the Purple Heart for Valor at Heartbreak Ridge. Born in North Charleroi; Keith was a son of the late John and Anna Blasick Moeller and the beloved husband of the late Ruth Smith Moeller. He was a brother of the late John Jack Moeller and the late Kathryn Jean Moeller. Keith graduated from Charleroi High School with the Class of 1948. During high school he was a class officer; baritone soloist and a member of the chorus; the Hi-Y and the Fallowfield Township Grange. Keith worked at Pete Hutco’s service station in Fallowfield Township during high school and; during college; was employed as a surveyor by the Charleroi McDonald Engineering Associates. Keith was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi; where he sang in the choir; served on Session; on the Board of Deacons and as treasurer. He was a member of the Charleroi Lions Club and; prior to his illness; was recently elected as president. Survivors include his beloved daughters; Paige Moeller; of Dormont; Kerry Timko and husband Bob; of Rostraver Township; with whom he made his home; his pride and joy; his grandsons; Robert Keith; Reid Alexander and Dylan Ray Timko; one sister; Mary Ann Moeller; of Rostraver Township; three sisters-in-law; Jean Dyky; of Monessen; Larue Moeller; of Willoughby; Ohio; and Freda Smith; of Charleroi; and numerous cousins; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday; Oct. 6; at 10:30 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church; Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue; Charleroi; with Pastor Fran-Lane Lawrence officiating. She was born Oct. 24; 1921; in Monessen; the daughter of the late Steve and Leona Denamur. Mrs. Essey was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Greensburg and a former member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church; Pinelas Park; Fla.; and the Antiochian Women of the church. She was a member and served as an officer of the Orange Lake Civic Center while in Florida. Ted Makovsky; 89; of Scottdale; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Oct. 16; 2007. Born June 15; 1918; in Roscoe; he was a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Braddock Makovsky. He was a resident of Scottdale for the past several years. Mr. Makovsky was a member of Pricedale Union Church in Rostraver Township; where he was a past trustee; and he was a retired lineman for Local 126 in Philadelphia. Mr. Makovsky was a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Army Air Force; and served as recording secretary for Local 126 Unit 2 in the Pittsburgh area. He also was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Naomi Athletic Club. He is survived by two brothers; Leo Makovsky; of Fayette City; and Edward Makovsky; of Eugene; Ore.; and special; devoted friends; Stella Bell; of Scottdale; with whom he made his home; and Ronald Bell and family; also of Scottdale. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon; Mrs. Mitchell was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church; Belle Vernon and was a self employed beautician.

HOLMES LAZZARO
Holmes Lazzaro; born in Fossa Italy; answered Jesus’ call to come home on Saturday October 13; 2007. Holmes graduated March 7; 1942 from United Aircraft Inc. located in Witchita; Kansas where he completed Aeronautical course training in sheet metal. Holmes also graduated from Air Service Command School- Civilian Mechanics Branch on February 13; 1943 as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic. Holmes was a Sergeant in the US Army Air Force. He was assigned to the 92nd Air Service Squadron. He was a veteran of World War II and earned the WW II victory Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; Pacific Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. While stationed in the Philippines; Holmes was responsible for the coordination of all activities in shop. He was in charge of making repairs on and replacements to glass windows and turret glass on fighter and bomber airships. His specialty was plexi-glass repair. Holmes tour of duty was from October 1; 1942 to November 21; 1945. Upon discharge; Holmes returned home and was owner and operator of Sunrise Inn Bar and Restaurant. In 1963; he was employed by United States Steel Corp. from which he retired. Holmes would have celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary to his loving wife Lena on December 3; 2007. Holmes is sadly missed by his wife; children and remaining siblings.
Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas V.F. Pastor as celebrant. Interment took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery with military honors.

He was born in Bethel Township on Oct. 7; 1925; a son of the late Thomas and Agnes Oprosky Bartman. He was a resident of Monessen since 1949; having grown up in the Monongahela area. Mr. Bartman was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a retired electrician; having worked for California University of Pennsylvania as foremen of HVAC. Mr. Bartman was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army with the 102nd Division; 405th Infantry Regiment in France; Belgium; Holland and Germany. He participated in combat operations in Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns and was awarded the Purple Heart; the Combat and Expert Infantryman’s badges; and two Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Angeline DeMarco Bartman; his son; William J. Bartman Jr.; of Fairfax County; Va.; a brother; Thomas Bartman; of Bentleyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
