licensed cosmetologist for
30 years. She was the
owner and operator of Hair
Styles by Antonia in the
Mon Valley through 2007.
Antonia was an active and
faithful member of
Christian Life Ministries
(CLM) in Donora while
under the leadership of
Elder Robert C. Holmes.
She held several offices
within the church and was
one of the original members
of the CLM Praise and
Worship Team. She
organized; with other
church members; a feeding
ministry; a free luncheon
held at Christian Life
Ministries every Thursday
from noon to 3 p.m. for
anyone who wanted to
participate in fellowship.
On Aug. 4; 2007 she
graduated from Shiloh
Bible Institute in
Washington; Pa.; and
received her diploma in
ministerial studies. In

Lillian DeMarino; 82; formerly of Monessen; died Monday; Sept. 24; 2007; in the Charles Morris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Pittsburgh. She was born in Monessen on March 27; 1925; the daughter of the late Annibale and Candida Prioreschi Giannini. Mrs. DeMarino was a 1943 graduate of Monessen High School and a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital and Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. Mrs. DeMarino was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 776; Mon Valley Nurses Association; Italian-American Heritage Society and Sokols USA. Anthony S. Pasta Merando; 83; of Monessen; died Wednesday; Sept. 12; 2007; in Meadowcrest Nursing Center; Bethel Park. He was born in Monessen on Jan. 25; 1924; the son of the late Sam and Mary Leone Merando. He was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1943 graduate of Monessen High School. Mr. Merando was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society; Knight of Columbus Council 954; the Belle Vernon McDonalds Morning Coffee Club; and he served as an usher at the former St. Cajetan Roman Catholic Church for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer; and a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Golf League. Mr. Merando retired in 1986 from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; having worked in the electrical department. He was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wasp in the Philippines during the Pacific Theatre. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Eleanor Brody Merando; a daughter and son-in-law; Candy Merando and Wayne Toth; of Jefferson Hills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
