William J. Bartman; 82; of Monessen; died Tuesday; Oct. 9; 2007; in UPMC Montefiore Hospital; Pittsburgh. He was born in Bethel Township on Oct. 7; 1925; a son of the late Thomas and Agnes Oprosky Bartman. He was a resident of Monessen since 1949; having grown up in the Monongahela area. Mr. Bartman was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a retired electrician; having worked for California University of Pennsylvania as foremen of HVAC. Mr. Bartman was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army with the 102nd Division; 405th Infantry Regiment in France; Belgium; Holland and Germany. He participated in combat operations in Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns and was awarded the Purple Heart; the Combat and Expert Infantryman’s badges; and two Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Angeline DeMarco Bartman; his son; William J. Bartman Jr.; of Fairfax County; Va.; a brother; Thomas Bartman; of Bentleyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a payroll clerk for the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company for 15 years until 1959 and a bank teller for 8 years at the Wilmington Savings Fund Society until her retirement in 1986. Survivors include her husband of 48 years; Laurence R. Rose also graduated valedictorian of Belle Vernon High School Class of 1946; was a member of the Anita Garibaldi of Belle Vernon; Recording Secretary for the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly; Catholic Daughters of the Americas B.V. Court 1522; St. Sebastian Legion of Mary and served as a volunteer for meals on wheels and St. Vincent DePaul Society.

ANTHONY H. PASQUA
Known for his gregarious nature and love of life; Anthony H. Pasqua; of Pittsburgh; died peacefully on Monday; Sept. 24; 2007; at Consulate Retirement Village in North Strabane Township at the age of 83. He was born April 17; 1924; in Monessen; a son of the late Joseph Pasqua and Theresa Mandarino Pasqua and stepson of the late Mary Santelli Pasqua. Anthony graduated from Monessen High School in 1942 and joined the U.S. Army; serving as a medic during World War II until 1943. He returned home and took a job as a sales clerk at the J.C. Penney department store in Monessen; where he met his loving wife of nearly 50 years; Elizabeth Sholtis Pasqua; who died Dec. 8; 1995; at the age of 72. Anthony worked as a metallurgist for Pages Steel and Wire mill in Monessen; as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Monessen and as a manager for Prudential Life Insurance Co.; working primarily in the Pittsburgh area. Following retirement; he enjoyed spending his days volunteering in the community and bringing his good cheer to patients as a volunteer for Allegheny General Hospital and to home-bound seniors in the Pittsburgh area through the Meals on Wheels program. Anthony served as an official greeter at Consulate Retirement Village; bringing warmth to newcomers. Those who knew Anthony will always remember his smile and sense of humor. He never tired of dancing or making a play on words; bringing smiles to those around him. He is survived by his daughter; Judith Totty; of McMurray; his son; Anthony Pasqua; of Oakland; Calif.; granddaughter; Leigh Ann Totty; two sisters; Josephine Pasqua Fayak; of Belle Vernon; and Rose Mary Pasqua Lopiccolo; of Parma; Ohio; and his goddaughter; Carla Fayak; of McMurray.
