William John Molnar; 79; of Gillespie; died peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday; June 29; 2010; at 3:30 p.m. Born Oct. 21; 1930; in Keisterville; Pa.; he was the son of the late John and Suzanna Molnar. A resident of Gillespie for the past 59 years; Mr. Molnar was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; and the former Holy Spirit Church; Fayette City. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport plant; and was the owner of Molnar Supply. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the yard and garage; and helping his family. He was also a social member of the Belle Vernon and Fayette City American Legions. He is survived by his wife; Agnes Kostal Molnar; to whom he would have been married 59 years in August 2010; daughter; Loraine A. Leeper; of Belle Vernon; two sons and daughters-in-law; William J. Molnar Jr. and wife; Tracy; of Gillespie; Ronald and Marianne Molnar; of Perryopolis; sister; Ethel Soja; of North Olmsted; Ohio; four grandchildren; Andrea E. Leeper; of Belle Vernon; Bud Leeper and wife Tracey; of Gibsonia; Brittany and Marissa Molnar; both of Fayette City; two great-grandsons; Justin and Cody Leeper. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Bud Leeper. Visitation will be held Thursday; July 1; from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday; July 2; from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. DR. ARTHUR BELA VARGA
On Monday; Oct. 29; 2007; Dr. Arthur Bela Varga passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Donora; graduating in 1939 from Donora High School; where he served as president of his class. After graduation; he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for six years. He was discharged with the rank of first lieutenant. Dr. Varga was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Monroeville and a former member of St. Therese Church in Uniontown. He was past president of the Fayette County Medical Society; past president of the Uniontown Medical Staff; a life member of VFW Post 47 and Post Surgeon in Uniontown; a life member of Donora Elks Lodge 1264; and a past member and board member of the Mon Valley Pitt Golden Panther organization. Dr. Varga entered the University of Pittsburgh in 1946; received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1949 and his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1952. Following an internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh; he practiced general medicine for three years in the Mon Valley area. He returned to Pittsburgh for a residency in anesthesiology. Dr. Varga practiced for 30 years; spending 10 years at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital and 20 years at The Uniontown Hospital; until his retirement in 1986. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years; Lois Jean Tiernan. He is also survived by his children; Dr. Jeffrey M. Varga and wife; Susan; and Michael J. Varga and companion; Michele Pompa; and his grandchildren; Jessica Lauren; Jeffrey Alan Varga and Nicholas Pompa. He was preceded in death by his parents; Nicholas; in 1933; and his mother; Julia Kustvan; in 1988. Friends will be received at the GENE H. Christella M. Butler; 96; of Belle Vernon; went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday; Oct. 31; 2007; in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Sallie Mae Willie Wardell on Oct. 9; 1911; in Bessemer; Ala.; she was the only child born to the late Rev. Wilson and Carrie Walker and the oldest living member of the Ware family. She later changed her name to Christella M. Butler. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Benjamin E. Butler Jr. Christella graduated from Monessen High School in 1930. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church for over 70 years; the oldest living member and Mother of her church. She served as a teacher and instructor for the BYPU; president of the Mission Department for 17 years; Sunday school teacher; senior choir and gospel chorus member; served on the Nurses Board; corresponding secretary of the YWBA and a long-time cook at YWBA headquarters. Aldo Stagi; 89; of Philipsburg; formerly of Fallowfield Township; died Tuesday; Oct. 30; 2007; in his home. A son of the late Charles and Kate Latinski Stagi; he was born in Belle Vernon on June 11; 1918. Aldo was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church of Fayette City and retired in 1983 from Corning Glass Works in Charleroi. A resident of Fallowfield Township for over 40 years; he and his wife moved to Philipsburg in September 2006. He also served during World War II with the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife; Ruth Roberts Stagi; with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on Feb. 14; 2007; one son and daughter-in-law; Charles and Sue Stagi; of Philipsburg; two grandchildren; Patrick Stagi and Kate Young and husband; Wyatt; three great-grandchildren; Angel and Jacob Stagi and Maggie Sue Young; one brother-in-law; Joe Schneider; and one nephew; Bob Schneider; both of Belle Vernon. James G. Pearce; 72; of Monongahela (Carroll Township); died Saturday; Oct. 27; 2007; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born May 3; 1935; in Monessen; he was the son of the late George and Leah L. Story Pearce. He first worked at the former Monongahela Memorial Hospital as an orderly and X-ray technician; then went on to retire in 1996 as a nuclear medicine technologist at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Mr. Pearce was a graduate of Rostraver High School and served as a medic in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Monongahela and its Knights of Columbus Council 2600. Mr. Pearce enjoyed reading; learning about history and being home with his family. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law; Debra Ann and Timothy Saltsman; of Erie; and Theresa Ann Pearce; of Monongahela; three sisters; Nancy Lackner; of Belle Vernon; Linda Glosser; of Dayton; Ohio; and Mary Lou Pearce; of Monessen. Preceding him in death was his wife; Sandra R. Dalola Pearce; on March 24; 2000; and two brothers; George R. and David Pearce.
